Just for an interesting poll... Kimi calls it quits over the off season, to take up a career as a pro surfer or collecting butterflies (what ever is his real passion) :)

So... you can have Alonso or Hamilton (two guys that get a lot of hate mail from Ferrari fans).... but two very fast drivers.

If you had to pick, who wins the seat?

If they had a choice Hamilton, the guy is cheaper, equally as fast and not a jerk. However I'm with Damon Hill when I say hire them both.

I'd take Alonso because is faster than Hamilton, would fit in better at Ferrari, and is less of a *****.

LOL!!! I knew it would be in very short order before some hater would call LH names:rolleyes: So predictable, so childish:rolleyes:
Personally even though i am a great LH fan as well as a Ferrari fan. I think that if Ferrari can get over the fact that Alonso is not a loyal and trustworthy character and would sail a team down the river. (So no he would noy fit in a tight team such as Ferrari being that Enzo liked loyalty in his drivers IMO). It would be great to see him in a Ferrari seat.
As much as i would also love to see Lewis in a Ferrari seat, i think its good for the sport to have an equally great driver in an opposing team (Maclaren. And lets face it the Ferrari V Maclaren war has been going on since forever.
It would be crap if Ferrari was the only team winning championships in F1 without anyone else having a lookin.

Whaddya mean "if" Ferrari needed a new driver??

Does anyone not believe that Schumacher would have had this title in the bag 2 or 3 races ago? Or the same again last year?

Could of course be Ferrari's third option - persuade the Schu to put his overalls back on...;-)

    I miss Michael.

He had courage and he could win in a car like Ferrari had in China, just by the force of his will and his balls.

Whilst I believe FA would be the right choice, for a number of reasons, I would want it to be LH.
However I wouldn't like to see either driver run away with it like MS did.

Hamilton has been brought up Team McLaren, scouted and signed at a very young age. He is an English driver on an English team and a very good one at that. As a Ferrari fan I think he is the ultimate rival and that's where I'd like him to stay, despite him being a phenomenal driver. Alonso, who is also a phenomenal driver, is less attached to his current team, despite winning multiple World Titles there. His concern is winning, which he could do in the Ferrari seat. A run for the title just isn't available for him at Renault anymore. So I definitely prefer Alonso to Hamilton and the Ferrari McLaren rivalry will only strengthen with that situation and make for a great '09 season, especially given the bad blood between those two. Having said all this, my vote is WILDCARD! Schumi out of retirement and into his old role as #1 driver at the Scuderia.

I would like Hamilton be for a few reasons that have already been mentioned, thats not going to happen. Also i think if he moved from an English team to an Italian team then the English public would not like him anymore because of the hate rid from the British public to Ferrari (Not all but certainly quite alot). So for that reason alone i don't think i would not move. Also he has already said he can't imagine ever leaving Mclaren. I don't think Schu would return because i think he retired not entirely just because he wanted too, i think Ferrari wanted a fresh and young driver line up, because they knew that Schu would have to retire sooner or later. So decided to do it while Schu was on a high despite loosing the 2006 world championship. Which brings me onto why then i would choose Alonso, and that reason is there were only two drivers that won world championships in the Schumacher era. The First was Hakkinen then more recently Alonso obviously, to me that is quite an achivement and if he can do that while schumacher was still racing then who knows what he could do in a Ferrari while Schumacher isn't around.

I do really miss Michael and i like it when he does interviews on the grid walk or for ITV it self.

I voted Alonso because with Hamilton at Mclaren i think we would see some great racing. I would also love to see LH driving for ferrari but cant see it happening.

Alonso because he is better overall and at developing the TEAM, someting Schui was the best at. Also Hamilton is a giant ***** and I doubt he's very well liked by Luca anyway. ;)

What do you mean "If" Ferrari needed a new driver???? They most certainly do and Alonso is the man. He has taken a underperforming Renault and won two races with it, and, but for Ron Dennis' two-timing ways for the benefit of Hammy last year, Alonso would have been WDC. He thrives in an environment where he is number one and he delivers back to the team the results for that attention. Next year, Alonso will be challenging for the WDC with Renault, and I think Ferrari fans will be lamenting the lost opportunity. As much as he wants to drive for Ferrari, if he beats Hammy next year and wins the WDC, he will stay with the team that he knows can deliver, and not jump ship to Ferrari like he did to McLaren.

Perfectly stated, I think the samething, I think he will turn around Renault and they will be in with a fighting chance next season. I don't see him going to Honda, and I think Ferrari should have got him for next year. Although I have a feeling that Kimi will be back to his usual self next season.

Okay, just for the sake of this poll... if it was between only these two drivers for next season, then it would have to be Alonso. He can set up a car brilliantly, he can do remarkable things with an uncompetitive car, and he wants to destroy McLaren with a passion. Plus he's been around for a few years and has a few good results to his name.

Thanks. In all seriousness though I know Schumi won't race in F1 ever again. Alonso in a Ferrari Vs. Hamilton in a McLaren would be so great for the sport and they would market the heck out of it. What a rivalry! Kimi/Massa Vs. Lewis just doesn't produce the same allure. I think that Kimi along with Alonso and Lewis are the best 3 drivers in F1 and Kimi is equally as good as Alonso, despite this years fairly dismal performance on his part. Kimi is a World Champion at Ferrari. People seem to forget that here despite it occurring only last year. I do agree with those people though, that at ~$50 million/yr there is no excuse for his lack of interest, period. Back to the point though, Alonso in the Ferrari Vs. Lewis in the McLaren is really the best thing for F1, Ferrari fans and McLaren fans alike.

Neither, Hamilton will not leave and Alonso is not a good team player.
