The recent gt3 didnt add HP - and actually they have been at 500 HP for 10 years in their GT3. They engineered their way into a faster and better car. They are charging more than ever for these cars and the demand is off the charts.

I hear you about regulations but the GT3 can do it - why not Ferrari

If this 296 was without battery - added a carbon tub - a few more R&D$$ to make it more fun to drive - (love how it is smaller than the f8) - so the HP would be over 600hp and weight about 3000 or can u imagine under that.magically 3000lb weight.

WOW now that would be different and fun to drive

Oh, the answer for that is easy: it´s because Porsche sells a lot more Turbos than GT3s.

Have to agree- the lighter a car, the better (once over 500 HP, I no longer care about more power).

agreed provides no added benefit to a street car.. but give me an NA 9000 rpm six cylinder if it must be and yeah I would love it .. like the GT3

You might be surprised. Not only do they sell more GT3's than turbos in 2018.... 1995 Turbos of all variants including S, non-S, and cabs vs 2300 GT3

When the RS came out in 2019 they too outsold turbos. 740 Turbos vs 363 GT3 and 1233 GT3RS

Porsche makes 280,000 cars a year - that's a totally different scale than Ferrari, so that they can make more really different models since each has enough production.
Ferrari may begin to offer more (real) options since they are looking to increase production, but the loss of exclusivity for the brand is the price to pay.
Preserving some exclusivity, Ferrari addresses its core market - so the so-called "VS" are to some extent only lightly tuned because they target the same customers (just those willing to pay some more money), not a track focussed subset of the customer base (which would be too small).

Besides, it's quite funny to mention carbon tub when refering to the 911 GT3...

Actually I'm surprised. The GT3 figures are in line with what I thought, but I supposed they were selling a lot more Turbos.

Still, these days all 911s except the GT3s are turbo, not just the "Turbo".

Ferrari claims that the electric motor and battery etc only weighs 100Kg which i find hard to believe. Even so i'd prefer a 296 as it is but without all the hybrid gubbins and £50k less money. With the V6 TT and still 663PS but with over 100Kg to lug around at a sensible price would make an amazing entry level Ferrari and a more direct competitor for the MC20

It's not supposed to be an entry level Ferrari, nor an MC20 competitor. Furthermore, Ferrari have to look into the future and the future is electrified one way or the other. Otherwise an automaker won't survive with the CO2 targets that governments set. Increased performance is a welcomed side-effect.

i have a 458 spider and it definately flexes - - i have had many 911 cabriolets and it has never been an issue. Every reviewer talks about the flex on f spiders - not so much on 911 cabs. and 911s are very focused on weight - and we all agree weight is a impt so making the point of the carbon tub would help.

mc20 - i would ignore any and all maserati thoughts - they should have learned their lesson from the california from years past

My view too. Buy a Scud/CS, complete refresh/upgrade with factory race parts even here and there, repaint/retrim if necessary, manual swap...presto, brand new Ferrari, exactly in the spec you want, that Ferrari won't build anyways.

I've great respect for the Ferrari's post Speciale, but so far can't see any of the post-Speciale's to be keepers...that's not a dig at Ferrari btw, just my wants/need from a car are different than just about any manufacturer produces.

Apart from the 812 GTS/Comp, the 911 GT3 is the only interesting car to me right now that you can buy new.

as far as 911s they build far more GT3s then you may think ... in 2018 and 2019 they made more of them then the 911turbo...so on some years they build the 911 Turbo in mass and then other years they build more GT3 and other GT 911s than any other 911

Or just simply buy a GT3 Manual and ignore what Ferrari is bringing to the market. I did…my F12 never left the garage since. Also no real appetite to get a newer Ferrari, although I very much like the 296. A spyder is on the wish list….so maybe in near future.

But what a magic car the GT3 is. I love every bit of it.
