Joe, I just got the new classic car at Borders with the Supercar Tests, did you get it? I was going to pick you up a copy as well. Lets see what they have to say. I just love the shape of the 288/F40 above all others.
F40 and I'd upgrade it for the track. Life is too short for such a glorious car to be a museum piece. You can die tomorrow without ever having experienced what Enzo Ferrari intended for that car, a magnificent swansong for sure....
You are assuming that people who do not drive them on the track keep them as museum pieces. A little less stereotyping please. Its manufactured firstly as road car. Agreed, its a magnificent swansong..
Of the choices in the poll I had to go with the 288 GTO as it was the first super Ferrari I ever saw on the road back in the mid '80s.
Only the F50. Hands down the best auditory, sensory and visceral driving experience of the 4 by some distance.
I voted F50 which I believe is the best looking supercar Ferrari has made to date, just gives me a chill everytime I see it. 1. F50 2. Enzo 3. F40 4. 288 GTO
perfectly stated ... except maybe i would present it thus: 1) F40 = 288 GTO tie . . . . . . . . 2) Enzo 3) F50
288gto(nice shaped lady)..............................f50(her sister).................enzo(her brother).....f40(her father)
F40, the car was introduced in the year I was born. Fantastic sound and raw feeling they've copied to new cars. Second in line is the F50, followed by the Enzo, and finally the 288 GTO.
It is very interesting that the 288 ranks last on this poll, even though collectors -voting with their money- clearly place it ahead of the other three cars in terms of desirability...F40s are doing well, but the market for the F50 is sluggish and Enzos have also hit a soft patch Perhaps it has to do with the fact that several young Ferrari fans are voting in this, a few years before they have the means to buy one of these. If that's the case we should expect the Enzo to rise in price over the next 10-15 years!
