The first car has been for sale forever. That listing is from 2006. Its owned by an Fchatter. Do a search and you'll see. Here is a picture of the Forza car when it was in Mass in September of last year...I wonder why the tailights are reversed. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not a lot, here is what I have: 1985 in (MO) 9/07 for sale Greenfield Imports (MA) $25k 89k kilos, tailights reversed, missing rear 400 emblem, had TRX wheels and tires why?
That has to be one of the most unloved 400i's in the world. It has been for sale from a number of dealers pretty much continuously for the last 10 years. During that time it has been driven less than 2,000 miles. When I looked at it in New Jersey in 1998, it had some issues and was overpriced, but not a bad car. Since then apparently some of the issues have been addressed and yet it is still looking for a good home. Is it really that bad of a car? John
An '82 car (series 2) would have TRX's from the factory. The car we're talking about is a series 1 car so it would have 15" wheels.
I don't know what the problem is John. You're right about it being unloved. Nobody keeps it for very long and nobody seems to take very good care of it, or make the proper repairs. Was the 2nd gear problem there when you saw it in New Jersey? It seems that sometime around 1998 it lost or had a 2nd gear problem. I don't know if it was ever repaired. I tried to look at it when I was shopping for mine but never got the straight scoop from the owner when I contacted him here on Fchat. He brought the car into California and was having some issues on getting a CA title for it, but I think he finally got it done. There were some other problems he was having, fuel pumps, Dinoplexe, but nothing that would make you want to label it a "bad car". I didn't buy it because I never felt like I was being told the whole story. Maybe I'm wrong, but its how I felt. This is what I have on it: 2/98 for sale The Stable (NJ) $34.5k 40k miles 1998 bad 2nd gear 3/02 for sale The Stable $29.5k 41k miles 11/03 for sale via Motorcar Gallery (FL) $31.5k 41.5 miles 4/04 for sale RM auction (MI) $25.1k 2/05 for sale RM auction (FL) $21.5k re-dyed seats 5/05 for sale Motorcar Gallery (FL) 28.5k 6/06 For sale on Ebay (CA) 8/07 for sale on Fchat magnum15 (CA) $26.5k Here are a few threads on the car: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=105422 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=137357 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=127965 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=157964&page=4 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123890 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123634
I'm the owner of the slate/gray 400. The add was put on craigslist without my knowledge. Yes the car is still for sale and by now all issues (...there was really only one issue CA registration!!) are gone. All other things i asked help here were solved by Pelican Motors of Costa Mesa. This guys finally figured out all the timing and starter problems. The car is running and i drive it regularly to SoCa F-meets and Careshows. I sell the car because i've bougth a 1986 328GTS. So if anyone has question mail me. Thanks
My mistake. What would the differences between a series 1 and 2 car be? I learn something new every post.
I drove this car a couple months ago and I would have definetely purchased the car but after doing my domework, it was not going to be a good fit as my daily driver. The car shows well and runs great. Idle is way to high for my taste but Gary said he likes it that way. Tranny shifted fine, clutch action was good and the car was well planted on the road. Interior was on the aged and worn side but then again, the car is 25 years old so what do you expect. If I could have afforded to make this my toy car, it would be in my garage right now but my commute to work is only 7 miles and the car barely gets warm in that time. I don't know the wrap on the car is but I hope that Gary finds a good buyer.
Hey Dave, if you don't mind me asking, what is the deal with #25735? I might have my dad go check it out. Thanks, Jim.
The deal is it is a Series 1 5-speed which is probably the most sought after of all of the 400 series cars, except for a carb'd version, and it is being sold by one of the most reputable dealers in the US (and a nice guy to boot). If you're serious about the car then save your Dad a trip and get Bill Pollard to do the PPI. Tell him I said hello and I'm shipping him the Dino in a few months.
....and by the way thats the wrong jack in the trunk of the car, no biggie rutlands has the correct ones.
