Ok let me just start off by saying that I am done messing with cars. Meaning trying to mod them. The guys are going to install the CS (type) bumper and skirts tomorrow. I had the calipers painted and mounted. Then I said no big deal, I will bleed the brakes myself.

    Wrong!!!!

I have done several cars myself. I will say that I have rebuilt the bottom end of a motor before so not a complete nut case here. ;)

But anyway, I have a bleeder pump. I start off at the farthest caliper. Then so forth. I go in the car and start her up. Well first the brakes were rock hard before start up. After start the pedal goes to the floor.

I thought ok more air. So I say I will try the old fashion way. One guy keeps filling the tank and one guys loosens and then tightens the nipple. I hear like a squishy sound from the pedals and only gets slightly hard. The guy opens the nipple and then only a slight movement down. Then he tightens then I pump again and same thing. I am holding the pedal until he retightens the nipple again.

    What am I missing here.

I searched and saw a thread where a guy said make sure to bleed the clutch too. Yikes!

So a little insight would be great. I hope I dont have to have her towed to the dealer. That would be embarrassing. Not that asking here isn't. LOL

What is that darn squishy sound.

    Any takers.

    Cheers

Oh by the way 360 spider.

did you try bleeding the master cylinder? if the brake fluid ran low you might have taken in some air

This would probably be better in the Technical Q+A section but anyway this is how I bleed brakes.

    2 person method ( I don't have a pump)

    1) Get a clear bottle for catching fluid and a clear plastic hose that fits tightly on the end of the bleeder screw.

    2) Attach the hose to the caliper farthest from the master cylinder and get 1 person to pump the brake peddle 3 times then hold down, the the other person cracks the bleeder. Air and fluid should come out. Then close the screw, and pump 3 more times and repeat until there are no more air bubbles visible in the hose. Then move to the next caliper.

    3) At no time can the master cylinder be allowed to run out of fluid or you will have to start all over.

    4) Make sure the end of the hose is submerged into the fluid in the bottle to prevent air from being be drawn back in.

Hey, where did you find that. Is that a real CS spider or a clone.

Go search "CS Spider" in 360/430 forum...

Of course, she is just a CS lookalike, but very nicely done!
