I really enjoy watching Massa race, but since his injury I have been concerned about him and his future at Ferrari.
If (and I hope not) Massa could not start/complete the 2010 season, then who would you like to see drive with Alonso?

The first person who comes to mind for me is Vettel..

I'd love to see Vettel or Kubica.

although both are VERY quick and won't be bad enough for alonso (i.e. #2 status)

Me too no doubt. Love his enthusiasm, his humility and oh not a bad driver either. I see him fitting into the team and culture very easily. I think its only a matter of time. He has the talent lets see if his handlers can play the right politics over the next few years and make it happen.

Vettel is another LH in the making.

Alonso hates to be beaten, the only thing he probably despises more is being beaten and losing to a rookie.

Whilst I think Vettel would be great at Ferrari for being one of the best drivers IMO it would be asking for trouble.

If you look at the contracts, I think Vettel's contract will be up at Red Bull around the same time Alonso's is up at Ferrari...

Although I have almost no doubt that Massa will drive for all of 2010, he'd be replaced with either Schumacher or Fisichella if need be.

From what I read, Vettel's contract is up in '10 - which is why Ferrari should have paid him the monies paid to Alonso and Ferrari would have been much better off with Vettel.

If Massa can not drive next year I don't want to see someone with Vettel's potential having to deal with a snitch and scumbag like Alonso.

Oh really? I thought I read somewhere that Vettel renewed through 13 or 14. Maybe it was options for those years, or I just have a major reading comprehension problem.

Won't happen. Alonso would never again allow a teammate who could beat him. If Massa can't drive I'm sure they will call up Fisi the lapdog...

Problem is that by the time Massa's capabilities are known for sure all the established names will have contracts for 2010. So either someone new will be brought in to F1 or Fisi will be back if the circumstances demand.

Ferrari is paying Kimi's salary next year so I would not be surprised if he takes the seat.

    Give the seat to Fisichella.
Alonso/Fisichella won Renault the '05 and '06 championships.

Vettel is out of the question. He just signed a new deal with RB. I think Ice Kube, or in fact, Rubens, or even Heidi.

Felipe Massa has said that Renault’s cheating cost him the 2008 World Championship, which Lewis Hamilton won by a point. In an interview with Globoesporte.com.

“I was very upset with everything that happened,” Massa said. “Not only with what Renault did, which was a theft. And it created a lot of things, the Safety Car meant that most of the cars had to go the pits, and I was one of them. We had 10 cars going into the pits. Mine went wrong. There were two cars at the same time. A mechanic pressed a button in a situation that would never have happened in a normal pit stop. What bothers me is that Renault stole the win.

“The result remains the same,” Massa said. “This is not right. For me it should have been changed. I lost the title by one point. I am not and never will be a driver who thinks, ‘I could have been World Champion’. “Even if they write today in my CV that I am the champion, after a year, I don’t think it would make any difference.

“We went to a lawyer, but there comes a time when there is nothing that can be done. Is the rule, the FIA decides.”

    From a blog

Seems to me he has just realized his hopes of ever becoming a WDC have just flown out the window.

Vettel is under contract at Red Bull until 2013 iirc, Hülkenberg has signed an equally long contract with Williams. Both stupid career decisions imho. When McLaren and Ferrari have found their speed again, and with more support to Brawn from Mercedes, Red Bull won't have the resources to beat them. As to Hülkenberg, I suppose he'll become another Nico Rosberg - wasted talent in a crap car, for years...

That's exactly how I feel on that issue.

I genuinely think Vettel is a World Champion in the making - its inconceivable that he won't win at least one title - and Kubica (if the stars align just so and he's with the right team) could also have a serious shot at it in the future.

Vettel would have been an exceptional choice.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

With all respect to Massa, He is a good driver, and had horrible fortune with regards to his accident, but...his head must still be hurting! Didn't he try driving out of the pits with the fuel rig in the trunk? Wasn't that worth a point? The bottom line is, he did not WIN the championship, YOU NEED TO EARN YOUR TITLES, DON"T WAITE FOR OTHERS TO HAND IT TO YOU.
