    I think under normal circumstances he would have needed to change the tyres once more so he would have dropped back to about 5th or 6th. This is about the same result Hamilton would have achieved in Hungary without the safety car destroying the race for the leaders so in terms of racing to catch up they were about equal as 5th is about the realistic place a Mercedes could achieve from starting from the back, with a little luck (as in both cases) it is even a podium.
    What is different between Hungary and Russia is the fact that Rosberg threw it all away by himself in the second corner so it was his own fault so the recovery was about equal but the entire race in summation (including mistakes) was better in Hungary than in Russia...

    Hammer = Hamilton.
    Britney = Rosberg.

    It's actually quite difficult to understand that grammatical masterpiece. It makes it even harder that he said "Britney" is leading the WDC.

    As usual, if it's about Hamilton, you have to put your 2 cents in.

    I fight wit with immaturity. Works every time.

    It was also the condescending "its not that hard" part.

    However speaking of hard....(Insert Hamilton's privates involving kraftwerk here)

    I'm going to disagree a bit. Nico pitted on lap two from the lead, his only pit stop. He rightfully moved up the field against the back markers to position himself to get back on the podium. What was unique was that his tires were so damned good at the end of the race after driving on them, basically, the entire time.

    To put it simply, he had the same number of pit stops as everyone else but he stopped earlier than everyone (save Massa, who pitted for softs). He handled his business and mitigated his losses. In this case, he had the same advantage (tires) as the other drivers so he simply only lost one place from his early pit stop.

    The track was not smooth just for Nico.
    The fact that he had to make up all those positions speaks to his poor judgement.
    The fact that he could make up those positions speaks to his (and the car's) ability.

    American TV speculated that he was distracted by all the buttons on his steering wheel.
    ;)

    It did seem that he was caught unaware by the corner.

    The car played some part but the overwhelming reason that nico got second was no tire wear. It is broadly accepted that had he pulled that move on a normal track (an asphalt expert stated that the ashpalt was so new at sochi that it hadnt worked down enough for the stones in the tarmac to grain against the tires thus meaning even less tire wear) he would've had to have made an extra pit stop than everyone else. Not to mention pirelli were so conservative with the tire choices.

    So if we add on an extra pitstop he wouldve been about 6. Not to mention sochi is quite easy to pass and often he didn't have to pass the frontrunners because they would pit just before he had to pass them. Hamilton beat his team mate from the PITLANE in a wet race. The pitlane is a considerable +5 seconds or so from starting last on the grid. Hungary is also notoriously hard to pass; the fact that nico couldnt pass JEV in that race for over 10 laps despite having fresher tires and JEV having no DRS to defend attests to the fact that on a track that is hard to pass and requires a lot of racecraft nico would've been nowhere. Also, ham came third in Germany (should have been second if he hadn't collided with button and lost some wing).

    We can therefore conclude that Nico can get to 5-6th from the back of the grid in a normal race and lewis can get 2-3rd. I mean he could still put in fastest laps of the race right at the very end - nothing compared to Alonsos tire management feat in Hungary

    We can't conclude that, you can conclude that. I'm extremely neutral I have no problems with Hamilton I rooted for him last year to dethrone vettel every race. That being said, its ridiculous fanboys like you that praise everything he does and discredit everyone else that makes all these threads annoying.

    Fact is, nico went from last to 2nd. Stop discrediting someone because you like the other person. It's disturbing and makes you look bad. Be objective and weight the whole scenario.

    It's people like you that make me want him to lose just so I don't have to hear how he's gods gift to formula 1

    I liked Lewis a lot more before toil came along.... That's for sure.

    Everyone would have needed an extra pitstop if there was more degradation probably..... But ifs and buts don't matter
