Hey guys, I'm on my 4th eBay ad now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150022621403

I've had 3 or 4 offers of $65,000 cash so I set the reserve at $65,000 to be fair to the people who made offers. If I don't sell it, I want to take it to a dealer, but the idea of consigning the car has become a nightmare. Who can I trust to sell it? What commission % is fair? What about getting the car to the dealer? So many issues.

Anyway, hopefully $65,000+ will get this car sold on eBay and I won't have to deal with this any more. This is a steal, don't you guys think?

Heck, with just the 30K service and other stuff I've spent $14,000 in the last 3 months and now the next owner will benefit. I hate to sell it, but I need room. It's getting old having the Ferrari on a lift and having to move cars to drive it.

Seems like a really good deal for someone looking for a black 355. My preference is Red otherwise I'd be very tempted.

I'm sure you have a very nice car but I don't think 65k is a steal on that car due to the mileage. I think if you are really motivated to sell it I believe low 60's would move the car fairly quickly. Of course that is just my opinion.

Do you have all the receipts for the 30k service and Valve guides?

    FFCobra,

Selling any high ticket items in today's market is tough. Ask the dealers with the high end cars! I see F-dealers in the MidWest advertising new 430's in stock! When have you seen that?

I would let this auction run it's course. If no luck, I'd stop advertising for a while at least 30-45 days to see where the market is then, and then try again. It costs $ every time you list it, and if you are getting only aggrivation, get away from it for a while.

You will gain little by consignment except inconsiderate people touching your car, absurdly high asking price, and similar frustration which will bring you to the point of letting the car go for your current price and still having to pay a sales commission!

A local consignment broker has about 10 F cars now. Would you pay $145K for a 2000 360 coupe with 11K miles! That's what they are asking, and the interior looks like it has not been detailed since the car was purchased new!

    Get the point?

Another FChatter has a gorgous 348 he tried selling on his own and ended giving to a dealer to sell. The price has been substantially elevated, and I do not think it has yet sold.

Remember the first time you posted asking for advice I threw out words of caution.

Take a break from this for a while. You might benefit from it now.

I still love that image of the original Coke sign in your ad. I would have thought that alone would have sold the car.

Yes, I have every receipt since the car was new. I just did a 30K service in June. The valve guides were done in 2002 at Los Gatos Ferrari. They also did a 30K at the same time.

The 30k was done in 02 and 06? With all receipts!

MAybe it;s the year that is making buyers timid. But with all that work done, and it has covered almost 30k miles. Seems well sorted. It will sell, give it some time

What happened to the people that offered 65k?

Honestly, it seems like a great deal for a very well kept car. I think the miles scare alot of people away. I think the miles are better as it shows the car has been driven. As I said in your other post, If this was late sept, early oct I would be all over it as my new house will be closed on. This is the perfect car and deal I have been looking for. Good luck with the sale.

Ok so give FFCobra a deposit, sign a purchase agreement with him, and then take delivery of his car late Sept or Early October!

    Then both parties are happy!

    Sean,

Get with FFCobra. It's a beautiful car. I would buy it in a heartbeat if I had more garage now, but the house I want will not be for sale for a year! It will have a 9 car garage!

I don't think Rifledriver could keep up with the service requests from me either!

Bring us back up to date on your HID issue, please. I forgot about that.

There's a whole thread in the 355 section going on now about HID's. (oops! This is the 355 thread! DAH!)

    Get there with your info.

Sorry for hijacking the thread FFCobra.

It's a nice car, he's being very honest, and that's a winning combination.

What about it FFCobra? can you work with that?

Sean, see you on the other thread.

I think it's the color. Everyone seems to want red Ferrari's. Can't blame them since I own a red C6 Z06 and red Ford GT. But I love the 355 in black/black. I'm just alone in my thoughts.

It seems like everyone who calls or visits knows that the 1995 355B's are the fastest of the 355 production run. They also know that the early cars had valve guide problems, but the 1995s had no more problems than other years in most cases.

The buyers in this price range want to pay low $60's for a low mile car with the valves done. I call those people, "big dreamers". Heck, I want to buy a 360 Spider for $120,000, but it's not going to happen for another 5 years. I try my best to explain that very low mile cars may not show signs of needing valve guides and most understand the logic of buying a car with at least 20k miles (with no signs of valve issues or receipts showing the car is fixed) or getting a very low mile example, but with receipts showing a completed head job (valves).

Also, the receipts may be scaring people.

I've been very open with the few people that have seen the car and shown them all of the receipts. Since 2002, the total is over $40,000 in services/parts. So maybe that scares them into thinking they would be spending that much in the future?

I explain that $20,000 in 2002 was for the valve guides and a 30K service. Then $14,000 was me doing a 30K in June, plus going crazy on many, many things that most people may have skipped. I could have cut my expenses by $5,000, but I really thought that I would keep the car for 3 years, so I wanted to spend the money now and drive the heck out of it later.

The reality of owning a Ferrari 355 is more than most buyers can handle. Just the idea of spending at least $6,500 every 3 years freaks people out. And let's face it, the $6,500 is the least amount a 355 owner should budget. I just hope the owners of 355's spend the money on their cars and don't skip services because they can afford the car, but not the services.

I've read that some of the V12 cars get neglected because of the buyer could afford the car, but not the up keep. Could that be the future tread of the 355's? I hope not. Let's all hope that these care remain in the hands of guys like us!

Now, if you want to buy the car now before you close on your house, I may be able to work something out with you. I can be pretty creative, so I'm open to ideas.

I had 3 or 4 callers wanting to pay $65,000 but I was still wanting to get more. So I notified the people who shared their email and let them know that I listed it on eBay with a reserve of $65,000 so they could possibly get the car for the price or close to it if no one else bids against them.

It's a pride thing, but I really believe the car is worth a lot more. Maybe I should have sold it for $65,000 but at the time I had a couple of offers for $68,500 and the money didn't come through.

Now that I have my Ford GT, I'm out of room so I must sell the Ferrari soon or it won't get driven enough. That would be a waste, so I'm going to sell it, even if I have to take $65,000.

I'm not going to say I told you so, but man you guys lit up on a few of us others when we thought it was high at 69K. Personally, I didn't mean to offend anyone, just thought you might get it sold at 65K.

I would say if you have a buyer with funds in hand to let it go.

    Geeeeze!?

A '95, year that made the most stock power, fresh belt service, AND the valve guides done. Why are you getting rid of it? I would keep and enjoy it.

That was the plan a few months ago. But then I found a deal on a new Ford GT.

I'm out of space in my garage. I picked the Ford GT 10 days ago and have more cars than garage bays.

I really believe the color is the issue...as nice and sorted as your car seems to be, most people want red. Personally, I would never even consider any color except red w/tan...regardless of condition or price. I think that if you are selling a Ferrari that is NOT red, you have instantly lost >50% of the market. Obviously this is just my opinion...but I know there are many people who feel this way. I do wish you the best of luck on the sale.

I agree, there was a nice 95' grigio 355B at ecarlink for a couple months for 64XXX. I don't think there were any issues???? But I thought that would have sold relatively quickly. I also know where there is a very nice 99 355B yellow/black that has been for sale locally for 4 months now and I know they were asking mid 80's so nothing ridiculous.

A red/tan is a much more desirable car IMO.
