Suppose a dream comes true. You can pick any one foreign F1 race to go to, free and being able to watch it in the finest possible manner with access to everything a mere civilian can get his hands on. Which would it be and why? For me it would be Monza, because the track is so amazingly fast, and is dominated by the Tifosi. I think being apart of the awards ceremony after a Ferrari 1-2 would be incredible.

Monaco for all the glitz and glamour

But if I had that choice, I'd actually pick the French GP. Why? Because it is so incredibly hard to get to for mere mortals. As a VIP I'd be staying on my river boat or fly in by helicopter.

From what I heard a similar argument could be made for the Chinese and Japanese GPs.

Probably Monaco only because of the city life. I wouldn't plan on going to an F1 race to strictly watch the race. TV coverage is far better at showing battles throughout the entire track, something which one person cannot do there. It's not like NASCAR, where one can see the entire track from high in the stands.

I'd just stay in pit lane during the race. Watch on one of the team monitors as the car zooms by and then go around town and enjoy it right after the race is done.

Monaco is obviously a must-see, as it's one of those "crown jewel" sporting events. But from what I hear, Spa is THE race to attend.

Monaco of course. Where else do you get the hardest F1 race of the season, the ocean, all those nice cars driving around, the vibe, the mood, the celebrities, the yachts. It's paradise, literally.

    Tough choice.

But I think I'd have to say Spa -- If I could get a spy-eye view. Seated at Eau Rouge.

For a track where you can see it all -- Imola? But without some upgrades, there's not a lot of racing to see. Or maybe near T1/2 at Indy.

The best way to see a race is in a race car. ;)

Eau Rouge has a grand stand, so that would work.

I've been to Imola. Didn't find it that exciting. If you want to bond with the Tifosi, Monza is better.

Somehow I'm thinking that giant overpass for the press at the Shanghai track must be tremendously exciting: You see the cars from above coming at you full tilt.

Without a doubt for me (and for John) it has to be SPA. Been there bunches of times and it's history, setting, course, everything wrapped-up is Spa. Pouhon is our favorite area for seats. Second is Imola and third is Magny Cours. If you want to see virtually all the track in France, then get your seats where we had ours - the Adelaide Hairpin. BUT if I had to pick only one foreign race to attend, sorry but it wouldn't be an F1 race - it would be the 24 Hours of Le Man - truly the most unique racing experience I've ever experienced.

For me it would be a tough choice between Suzuka, Spa and Monaco. All are fabulous places to see the men separated from the boys.

I guess Monaco would eventually triumph because it must be amazing to see the cars a mere dozen feet away from you missing the walls with centimeters to spare. I would love to be near the Piscine section - see the car going thru the chicane at amazing speed or perhaps near Mireabeu looking at the cars approaching and seeing the action into the hairpin and Portier below.

Been there, and you are right, got to see Ferrari's first win at Monza in 13 years. Been to Monaco, boring but beautiful.

But since I have been to Monza and Monaco, I would love to go to Spa.

I've been to both places and Spa wins hands down. Monza has the tifosi but otherwise is a boring track from a spectator's perspective. I'd say even Imola is more interesting and that's not saying much. Spa is Spactacular!

So I can't speak about other venues (well went to the Indy 500, too) but I can't imagine a better venue than Monaco!

Any country (Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey) that practices caning would be an automatic boycott. I hear that Canada has the best partying and nightlife so I guess it would have to be Canada and Monaco.

I've been to Montreal so many times I hardly think of it as a "foreign" race, though technically it is. Otherwise, my picks would be Monza, Spa, or Silverstone. (I'd love to see the British race back at Brands Hatch sometime.)
