Let's say that for whatever reason, every and all Ferrari's were impossible for you to own. Like, you had an allergy to them.

What would you buy and drive instead?

    IMPORTANT RULE HERE:

It has to be at a "similar" or slightly higher price. You can't just say McLaren F1 or Bugatti Veyron if you own a 308 GT4.

For me, it would be a Lambo Countach or Miura. Those are the only two cars that really get my blood boiling despite their weaknesses.

No modern Lambo, McLaren, Porsche, Corvette, Audi, Mustang, Noble, or Maserati would be close. I might like them but I can't see how it could be as much.

    Your choice?

    Since I'm a "mid vintage" guy - I'd say Lotus Esprit S4 and/or Triumph TR-6

IMHO Audi and Mustang aren't even in the same league as the others you listed.

I keep saying my next sports car will be an Esprit... but I can never see myself selling my Ferrari.

Maybe when I grow up I'll have both!

I agree I was just trying to cover all the bases. A new Shelby Mustang costs about the same as a 328 GTS. They're apples and oranges... except for the price.

A Gallardo LP560-4 or a Muci LP 640-4 would be on the top of my list.

If you couldn't own your Ferrari, what would you do?

I would save a lot of headache, money, and time.

Ok so I slightly modified the question in order to get to that answer.

In reality I was actually looking for a project of some sort when I bought my 308. I had in mind a muscle car or maybe a Cobra kit car (one of the only kit cars I would ever own).

In the end that may have been my choice but I most likely would have ended up with a Corvette. Hard to beat the performance for the price.

Lotus Esprit. Although, admittedly, for me it's the other way around; the Esprit is my first choice (vs. a 308).

    1987 911 Cab in silver.

It's cheating to say Corvette because I purchased my Ferrari after I found out I could not afford the newer Corvette that I wanted. For what I have into the Ferrari I could have now purchased that Corvette, but I wouldn't trade.

I'd like a Lambo but it violates the rules as being completely out of my range.

If I had to give up my F355 I'd like another Viper GTS or a Esprit V8 TT.

I have actually been seriously considering an Aston Martin V12 - especially since they put it in the V8 platform and offered a conventional manual transmission.

BTW - No - not to replace the Testarossa.
