Just what a fickle place the used prestige market is, a friend has just tried to trade his less than twelve month old Porsche 997 cost $235K Dealer here has offered $180K!
Simple man. Sell for $235K new. Buy back within 12 months for $180K. Detail the car and put back in the showroom for $200K. They have to make their money i guess. Got to get in the prestige car sales market
Sounds about right. Depends what he's buying and what they are willing to throw on the new car, but that's a trade price for a used 997. What do you think it is worth? It's not new and with the Cayman being the hot item, 911s will be slow on the used market for a while.
Nooooooooooooooooo wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!! They wouldnt do that man. All car dealerships are honest and trust worthy people and wouldnt dare scam you
Most new cars drop 20% when you drive them out the door, so is about right. It's not as if you can't buy a new one, so what would someone pay for a 12 month old car maybe not with the options or colours they want? Also, what price will it resell at? If you have $200K, you probably have $235K. John, are you coming to Gympie? I remember you enjoying the last one
It not just exotics as we all know. You drive any new car out of the showroom and you lose big $$$$$$$$ either way straight up. Take it back within a year or so and you cop the initial hit that cars take when they are new. In your mates case, its $50K. Unless you can really afford it,or tax dodge or whatever, its best to wait a year or so to buy a "new" car to avoid the big hit. My brother bought a Holden Statesman, was 2 yrs old at the time with 15,000km on the clock, in 2002 and got it for $44K. I was around $25K cheaper than new. And the car was like new.
I agree with all these sentiments...but there are so many Porsche Knuckle draggers out there who bull**** about selling their cars after two years and losing ten grand etc etc. I have been telling people ad infinitum that there is nothing bulletproof anymore and that its a new world order!
Mate Flynny got married and since he doesn't own a 365 3P he cant take me AND the wife! I'll probably take the leap and by something in the not too distant future Ferrari wise but with two other clunkers getting major work at the moment I have had to hold off for a few months till later in the year. But like having friends with Boats its even better to have friends with Ferraris!
JA I'm going up on my own if you wanna come ? gimme a call for pickup if you do ... Saturday morning 9am in Brissy we start
Nice quiet drive Sat, 1 or 2 light beers Sat night, **** load of fun on the skid pan Sun. Though you may not talk to me, not taking Horse, in rice instead.
My money is on some full house drift car with a very large wing....given his antics in the Munro last time. JM you missed it of course but it was a sight to behold!
Mate thanks for the offer, but I've just had a boys trip to Stanthorpe and 3 days in Fingal......but maybe ill think of an excuse!
No, too much traction for a skid pan, and by the way, don't you also have some fried dog in your stable?
