The 2 choices you have given, which are really impracticle comparisons, as both are extremely different cars. In my position there is no question. The F40 is the last self drive Ferrari, without all the extras so to say. So its got to be the Schumacher car. If the Pagani was in the choices yeh I would probably go for that.
Of the two choices, the F1 car assuming I can afford to race it in F1 tracks around the world. Can you say WOT through Eau Rouge? Left to my own choice I'd get a 275 GTB/4.
+1 Really surprised that someone would actually admit that they would donate their money to those two fools, how about donating too a worthy cause? Or did we just get punked?
Wherever I go people ask me they same question, "For a million bucks would you pick up a turd and eat it?" With $3,500,000.00, you spend a million on mouthwash have a nice life.
I would take the boat Just what I need to haul and pull a few crab pots. .....does it come with the trailer and truck ? Besides it holds 3 people so I classify it as a "family" vehicle, kind of a grocery getter with some class and speed.
if you have 3.5 m for a F1 car you have the financial ability to rent some track time periodically for fun. schumi's car for sure.
I know its just for fun so here goes with a serious answer: F1 car. A direct link to Ferrari racing history. That carries the day. And with the likely contacts you'll make you will find opportunities for Enzos and LFs etc.
Apples and oranges. Many who run large cats and vees launch them right off their trailer into the water without a crane. As for "Lick This", one can simply have it converted to a low deck open pleasure boat seating 5 in comfort. Re-power it with a pair of Merc Racing 1350's or the like, at it will run reliably at 190+ mph all day. There are quite a few former race boats living their life as pleasure boats, and the difference between a Skater 46 pleasure boat and a full on race boat is actually quite small. An F1 car? That needs a complete pit crew, a race track and what not - not to mention expensive rebuilds after each tracking. It's not the same thing.
This is a good point as well! F1 car needs all the support staff for sure, but you have the means, so why not? You fly in to the nearest airport in your G9 ( I know not out yet , BUT you have one already ) , arrive and drive, then fly off to Paris for dinner. The F1 car opens doors , as well as puts you in a smaller circle of owners, PLUS the experience! Wow! S
Not true. Most of the big cats can't be launched via a the trailer. They are too big and can't be put back on the trailer from the water. Most like lick this require a crane. I know the owner from Desert Storm Poker Runs in Arizona. He only uses it for poker runs because its a pain to use for pleasure. The engines most even non Mercury Racing are fairly reliable. But even the 1350 require race gas. Its not the expense, its the pain in the butt to use them. An F1 car requires a crew just to start it. Unless you are racing it. Pleasure use would be a major PITA.
Have you owned or launched a big cat? I can tell you from first hand experience that Peter Hledin can and will build you a tilt trailer for ANY Skater cat, including a boat like Lick This that will allow you back it off into the water. And no, the 1350 does not need race gas, it runs on normal pump 91. I've been around powerboats since childhood and have owned my share over the years, so what I say is not assumptions or second hand knowledge. Not trying to turn this into a huge debate, just saying that running a boat like Lick This is nowhere near as complicated as running an F1. Back on topic.
After further consideration:: A) if I had 3.5M sitting around waiting to be spent, I would not get either car. B) if I had 35.M sitting around I would get the F1 car, and hire Ferrari to perform pits and maintanence.
I would buy neither - I'd buy the F-40 on sale at Ferrari of Atlanta, and then I'd have a about a million and change left for mtns, and upgrades & travel ... I'd take the car to Europe and drive all the mountain passes, do some track days at Spa, and Monza... and drive over the raticosa pass just for the hell of it.
