Get an older Ferrari unloved rolling chassis that's missing the engine and stick it in that. A Queen Mother 365, 365 GTC 4, or 365 GT4/400.

Same thought here, however, would opt for the 2nd variant. (Yellow)

IMO, the 1st, (Green) was a tad too weird.

    Too weird?

    There is such a thing?
    ;)

Hi Paul, I would be more than happy to talk to you about the engine i have, as the engine you were looking at with gearbox is currently on ebay for £10k and although mine is a more modern design with more power potential, would need a rear gearbox solution.... Yes I know I should be selling you on the idea of mine, but it depends on your budget and what you are trying to achieve.

An amazing project and far from a pipe dream....

Get in touch if the FF engine tickles your fancy.... :0)

I would absolutely buy a jet boat that needed an engine, and drag race it in a Lucas Oil Drag Boat River Racer bracket class.

Hey GT, 653bhp+ in an Atom and you would have to do some serious engineering at the back..... I am actually a Caterham 7 man, GF04RCE being my first child assembled in 2004, i have found myself wondering what the GDI FF engine cut and shut into the front would be like with 4wd, but the engineering and time is beyond me at this present time..... Just thinking about it as I write sends a tingle through my spine..... :0) 4wd drifting my seven with exhausts running down both sides and 12 throttle bodies drawing down deep breaths of air before me ...... that is just hmmmmmmmmmmmm lol :0) Maybe one day..... ;0) but not now, the engine has to be passed on.....

Hi David, yes I have been watching it, they have had it for sale for some time. Its one of those unusual things that to the right person its worth a lot more, but there are not many people looking for one.

I like a challenge, yours to be honest is a risky purchase as I dread to think what ferrari would want for the required parts to fix, and my local breaker is a bit short of FFs at the mo! the one on ebay also comes with all management and loom etc, yours is probably worth more broken down and sold as parts, once the cars fall out of warranty

We have a damaged 355 gearbox here already to use as a template to make an adapter to suits most engines.

If you take a look at the part prices for the FF they are remarkably reasonable but there is an element of risk (e.g conrod arm £68+vat), and although the loom is there you would still need to get the engine management sorted...

Agree with the future value once they drop out of warranty... not sure i can wait that long to get a return though, there are projects of my own I want to get on to.... :0) but at the end of the day its more fun than an tax ISA investment ;0)

The current plan is to put it up on ebay UK & US after Christmas with a £12k/$20k buy it know and see if any offers come in....

Have a Good Christmas one and all :0)

There was a thread on Fchat not too long ago (maybe 6 months ago) that seemed to be a serious request for a v12 to use in a boat. Unfortunately, I can't find the thread, but that might be an opportunity for this engine if you can find the thread.

If I were you I would invest a little more to get a bigger return, and reduce the risk factor to potential buyers.

Whip off the heads and sort any valve train damage, they are an asset in themselves then.

Also then drop the sump and show any pics of the damage, even maybe buy the required parts and inc them in the sale. That way buyers know what they are getting into and will give better offers as a result.

Good luck with it. I could be a buyer later in the year as it currently is, once my divorce is finalised

We are pretty secure that there is no damage to the valve train. I am hesitant to invest more in the investigation at this stage but will consider at a later date if it doesnt find a new home in its current form.

I see there is a bid on the 599 engine... is that your good self :0)

Parts prices: I became intrigued as to how you value different Ferrari engines and why a 599 engine can sell for £10k and an FF GDI engine would be so much more.

The smaller parts, conrods, cylinder sleaves, gaskets etc. are all very reasonable I would even say £1500 for a new crankshaft is pretty reasonable. As for the crown jewels in the FF GDI engine compared to other engines it is camshafts....

Each of the 4 camshafts is £3,504 each.... As the heads in my engine are not in question suddenly I am much more comfortable about the pricing I will go on ebay with next week.... although still only worth what someone is willing to pay....
