This is a no brainer.....F40, of course.
I thought about that too, but I wasn't sure if that is the case. IMO, the 288GTO, as much as I adore the car, it has a lot of resemblence to the 308 series, but not so much as in the case of F-40s.
F430 Spider......I'd sell it for $100K over MSRP to Gentry and then buy myself an F40 (driver condition car) and keep the spare change for maintenance and updates.
Gotta go with the 430..... The F40 is a very cool car and I appreciate Rick giving me a ride in his (whatever happened to it??? ) but it's just too cramped for me to spend a lot of time in.
F40 - No question about it. It is timeless and the first production car to go over 200mph at a mere 201 miles an hour. But besides that... it is just everything that is raw about Ferrari and their workmanship. Even if the paint is thin. Even if it is over 10 years old, it is still timeless and always will be.
Depends what the focus is: - Lack of depreciation - F-40 - Timeless s*x appeal - F-40 - Everyday comfort - F430 - Overall $ preservation - F430 - Performance - Toss up (in different ways) - Bragging rights - F-40
Just the thought of an F-40.. all that raw torque/hp, the turbos winding up... the sheer LACK of computer intervention... manual this and that... the stunning looks or an untamed race car... . . . . . Gets me all hot and wet (did i say that aloud?)
Heres my answer. The F40 is a classic & even though it can be a pain on the street its amazing on the track, except for the lousy brakes but thats easy to fix No doubt the F430 is a better car technically because its much newer but it will never rival an F40 as a classic or as an investment Image Unavailable, Please Login
i would take the F40... The F430, in all honesty, would probably be lots more fun at first, but the F40 would be ultimately be the wise choice... To be quite honest, the F40 scares the **** out of me - always has, always will - but i think that's why i would take it... i MUST have the ultimate... i'm not concerned with being a passenger in an F40, it's driving one that boggles my mind... If i ever have the chance, i can only imagine what will happen... Turbos, torque, and taudry tendencies for topped out needles will most certainly be my downfall.
F40. It's more extreme, and the reason I like Ferraris is because they're so focused to a certain type of driving. While the F430 may be faster in a lot of situations, I'm guessing it wouldn't reward like the F40?
