Which one would you take?
F12- Because- A) $$ B) I can obtain one before I die Curious as to why you didn't include 812 as an option?
Im not sure you can compare any brand’s flagship new car to a 10-12 year old model. Its not in the same price/performance/ownership experience bracket and costs have gone up exponentially across all manufacturers. If they were the same price i could frame the question differently in my mind but its like comparing a gallardo to an sto, a 991.1 to a 992 etc. its basically coming down to money more than anything. The correct answer is both!
Hahahahaha "Which one would you take, a massage from an intelligent beautiful woman, or an appendectomy from a stupid ugly doctor?"
Hm….let me see… Would I rather a curvy, sexy thang with sumptuous refined lines, or the Hunchback of Notre Dame? Hm….lol
Took my Rosso Maranello F12 in for its annual today. My god does it stand out against Manzoni designs! Had a surprise visit with the salesman that sold me the car 10 years ago (hadn't seen him in many years). He asked if he could put me on the list for a 12C. We just kinda looked at each other and changed the subject. The RM F12 is still the best looking car there Hope it gets done before the rain comes. Hate bringing it in. Re-upped the Main Power15.
price is a major factor here as well as the GTS version of the 12c. i own a F12 and would choose it over a 12c coupe as long as i could put the money difference in the bank. now a 12c GTS I might pick over an F12 simply because it is an open air V12 and i think it is better looking than the 812 GTS.
The poll is closer than the comments would indicate but I have a speciale, pista spider, and an 812 GTS all keepers. I got offered the 12C coupe and spider but tbh I have always loved the F12. So I started wondering if I should just get an F12. Hard to find one that I want, have been looking for awhile but I wanted to add a v12 coupe to the garage but felt the 12C spider was more my style. Thanks everyone.
Get the F12 no brainer.. went back through the back catalogue after SF90 w/ AF, chose the 458 Speciale again & F12, IMO all the Ferraris you will ever need in the garage,
Jeez you must be the forum police, so so sorry. He is asking about F12 v 12C only not everything, and yes I’ve seen 12C in the flesh and I wrote F12 is no brainer. Did you see that bit IMO??
Saw an F12 on the road today, first time in a while. It has its faults but let’s have it straight, it’s a great looking car. Low and menacing. Not as nice as 812 for me, as I’ve said before but a lovely looking thing, even over a decade after it debuted. As coincidence would have it I also saw the 12C recently. I was underwhelmed on seeing the first pictures but it has been warming up for me. Seeing it in the flesh revealed some interesting things to me. The 12C has great proportions and real sex appeal. The cockpit, seating position and its relation to the exterior surfaces are just great. Made me think “be great to get in there and drive it back rather than take a plane”. When you open the bonnet the detailing is really fantastic, the engine nestling low in between the exposed wheelhouses and wide wheels. Loads of really beautifully done details all over the car. It’s a great design and feels thoroughly modern, despite the simpler, more classical lines. The black parts make sense (though if you don’t ppf them they’ll be a mess inside a week). The 2D critics have it wrong and criticise the wrong things IMO. The cabin is brilliant - especially with the glass roof which really makes the cabin feel great, the details are well executed and plentiful and the whole car is cohesive and very much the beguiling GT. So what should armchair warriors have criticised? That Manzoni actually delivered what they asked for. A classically styled Ferrari in the tradition of great Ferraris and penned in a style that is quite different to the 812. The 12C is like the Mission Impossible films - an age-old formula, thoroughly and skillfully updated with each new movie, easily enjoyed and stylish but ….an age-old formula, tries hard to be cool and is. The F12 and especially the 812 are Jason Bourne - the intent is immediately obvious from the outside, doesn’t try hard to be cool but just is. So which is it for me? Not the F12. Turns out it isn’t a no brainer... The new car looks more thoroughly modern and hits some really high notes. It is better resolved for me. The 812 goes further in the direction the F12 pioneered with its more obvious exterior aero styling. So I have always preferred the lower-slung, less voluminous and more aggressive 812. If you compare costs not as today but inflation adjusted for when both were new, the 12C holds more for me, quite easily compared with the F12. 812 is much closer but I still think the lovely details of the 12C probably just swing it, despite the fact that there is something incongruent with a classically styled Ferrari. Ferrari has always been about performance for me. Scaglietti designed those early racers with function driving form. The function was great and the resultant form became evocative because of that. F12 and 812 are more like that. The bit that slightly bothers me about the 12C is the very thing everyone got excited about - this is a classically styled Ferrari. But it doesn’t bother me enough to ignore the beautiful details and the fact this car has all the obvious styling lines that have wowed car enthusiasts for decades. It is one sexy car. And our deposit is still in.
Not that my opinion really matters but thankfully I don’t have to make a decision until my dealer calls me to put down a deposit on a 12C spider, which won’t be in the first year of allocations. By that time I will know for sure what can be done about the exhaust, the black bits, and the nannies. If I don’t like what I see I’ll likely pass, sell both the 812 GTS and 296 GTS, then pay whatever it takes to buy at TDF and call it a day with Ferrari.
Exactly the same, TDF will be my end Ferrari and hand it down. Just got to find a car with mileage as I like to use them not store them and find the right upgrade cost from 458 Speciale & F12.. first world problems
