Saw this tenacious bugger sitting on the rear deck of the 355 on Saturday. I took the car out today (Wednesday) and found he was still there.

I thought for sure he'd hop off (or blow off) before too long, but, much to my surprise, the little guy stayed planted the entire 5 mile trip to the Post Office and back. I was going up to about 45mph but he just hunkered down and rode out the storm.

I tried relocating him at the Post Office, but he would have none of it. So we crept back to my house at school zone speed.

    And there he sits...

The night before last I was driving with my windows open and a bright green mantis flew right in while I was waiting at a stoplight. It landed on the dash, turned and sat there staring at me. I was on the phone, and because it was on the dash in the middle of the car I couldn't swipe far enough to throw it out of the car. So it sat there staring at me with its little pincers up as I drove for a few more blocks, like a creepy dash ornament. Finally, as I pulled into a parking lot, it reared up and flew over me and out the window.

That was my brush with The Green Death this week... :D

    Hahaha!

This is exactly what happend in Germany last summer! On the window of our rental E60 BMW 5-series a bug like this one sticked and we drove faster and faster on the Autobahn and it just wouldn't let go!! We had a great laugh... Sometime on leg slipped, then he regained control - then another leg slipped, he regained control again. LOL

He did take off by 190 km/h (approx 120 mph) which was how much we dared to go in that traffic.

Hey I'll make him a deal. If he can do the belt service, I'll take him anywhere he wants to go.

Would have been quite the caption competition if your 355 was Fly Yellow.

no mantis stories, but i do have a green lizard that stays somewhere in the front of my truck. i was on I-95 going with traffic and he came out from his hiding place.

whats funny as hell, is that he turns INTO the wind, and will purposely let go with both legs on one side of his body, and "glide" with the wind. i stopped in the emergency lane TWICE to try to save him. but he would have none of it, and hides in the grill somewhere. i still see him from time to time.
