as did Jim Glickenhaus, what would you use as the base car for your customization and what would you do to it and why? Let me start of first: Base car: Ferrari F50 Customization: I would send it to Pininfarina and have them do a modern reinterpretation of the 80's Testarossa. The design/engineering elements that I would require would be the "cheese-grater" intakes, pop-up headlights, swing-up doors like in the Enzo, traditional 4 round taillights, visible engine bay with LED lighting (as with the Audi R8), engineer ABS and traction control for the car (the car didn't come with either, however, a basic simple traction control system would suffice - not the complicated manetino system), large carbon-ceramic brakes, 20 inch rims (to accomodate the larger brakes), and, oh yeah, a stereo system!. The whole bodywork would be carbon fiber, of course. Why?: First of all, being a child of the 80's, the Testarossa was the first Ferrari I lusted over. There was something about the car. It was outrageous, it was sexy. For the first time Ferrari was able to compete in the "poster wars" with Lamborghini. Secondly, I love the fact that the F50 has a former F1 engine in its engine bay - how many car can say that! Lastly, other than the Ferrari P4/5, the current batch of Ferraris IMHO has lost its sexiness, it is time to bring sexy back to Ferrari! Cheers, Andy
a 57 Testa Rossa based on 575 or 599 mechanicals and a 1970 512M show car based on an Enzo Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
the one I'm planing right now is a 312/67 F1, the trick will be the engine, however with mark pulling off his creation that should be the least of my problems. the biggest..chassis..
i wouldn't mind seeing a car made with elements from all of the supercars, i.e., a mix of a 288gto, f40, f50, and enzo, probably with an enzo type engine
Cal Spyder with a 599 base or a 250 GTO with a 599 Base or a 275 with a 599 base, or..... Damn it I want them all. One of each in every color and variation.
Make mine a "326" Dino. Exact same body as a 246, but with a 3.2 liter, V-6 engine, with modern climate control. Yummy!
I don't know how the pontoons would translate effectively in modern design language... however... A car based on the current 0672 would be spectacular. Imagine a carbonfiber-gasm of pure open-top motoring... nothing convertible or overly practical; but simply a super performing and astonishingly well-contoured piece of beautiful speed... Ugh I cant put into words what an amazing vehicle could be made... However I think the 599 as a basis would make it too big and heavy... However that engine would surely be appreciated... best, m
Asking a Ferrari lover to pick only one is like Spock asking a computer to caculate pi to the last decimal. A pontoon TR, a Lusso, a 166MM Barchetta, 312PB, 365BBLM, 288, F50, Enzo, and round and round. First choice would probably be the 166MM. A modern chassis with modern brakes and wheels, carbon body, and up the engine to something more potent. Mk e is building a suitable example as we speak, but the hood may need a bit of a "power bulge" to fit it. Ah to dream.
My answer is obvious. Mondial based 480hp 1200kg 2+2 with every modern gadget fitted that I can think of. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
An F430 Challenge with the following refinements:- Basic ECU remap for increased power and torque outputs, perhaps around 540bhp and 360ib-ft of torque F1 Superfast-2 gearbox for faster and more aggressive shifts F430 Scuderia rear diffuser for improved aerodynamics, aesthetics, and perhaps cooling Adapted suspension for both fast road and on-track driving For me, performance comes before aesthetics, but that's just my personal preference.
Definitely, a modern version of the 246 Dino. Ultra - lightweight chassis with a body/chassis weight goal of around 2200 to 2500 lbs, with a modern interpretation of the 246 body. Powered by a V-6 version of the F430 engine, possibly tuned to around 400hp and 9000rpm. As they say, Id mortgage the farm for that!
I am working on designing an up date of the Vignale bodied 340 Mexico with either a Ferrari/ Maserati V8 or maybe a 550 V12 motor. Building the frame and body myself. I think it's going to take about 4 years.
My answer is lame, but too me the best looking car Ferrari has made is the P3 spider. So I want to blackmail Napolis into letting PF build me a P4/5 targa. I keep running into problems with (1) the blackmail thing and (2) the whole paying money for the project thing. But other than that, I am ready to get started!
I like the P3 and Mexico update ideas. But my idea would be a new car based on old parts. If there was a ruined 365 GT4 2+2 that would have a frame and driveline to offer I would start there. I would make a 60ish open car based on that.
