Does anyone know who's 355 spider this belongs to? Shame on what ever happened to it but at least it can be fixed. EBAY LINK
Finding rear end parts should be easy compared to front end stuff. Lets go look;( what I need are more time absorbing projects. Sleep is SO over-rated).
may be a deal, but for $70K you could have this one with no issues. http://www.ferrarichat.com/pp-classifieds/showproduct.php?product=497&sort=1&cat=2&page=1
Car is at 40k now, talked to owner; sounds OK but he never contacted me previoulsy to arrange a look, maybe too bad for both of us.
pretty tempting, I certainly had my mouse hovering over the bid button. But, I just couldn't do it - especially sight unseen.
So who picked it up? Not a bad price from what I see. The rear quarter panels don't look touched, or are they? If so, that would be the only expensive part to straighten out. Will, what's your estimate on this one from what you can tell on cosmetics?
Oh damn! It ended, didn't realize that. (thats what I get for trying to use my psychic powers, yet not reading the thread) Edit: +$5k in parts, eh, not bad for a '95 Spider.
The funny thing is the auction started off with a minimum bid of $53,000. With no bids the seller quickly changed it. If it was me, I'd get a used rear bumper, tail lights, and badges most likely from some the fine sponsors of F Chat. The only thing I would add in is a challenge grill. I think about 6 to 8 hrs of metal work needs to be done with a small pull from the frame machine to get it back into shape. $2500 for parts is a fair estimate. I would try to get it all under $2 grand but thats just me. I'm sure the rear panel can be saved w/o replacing it. As for the engine, fuel lines, valve guides, cams, belts, etc.... is most likely another story. I have seen some people spend 15K or more just to get the car running properly. This car will be interesting to track, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if new owner showed up here requesting tech info. Cicero is right about buying a non issue Ferrari, better that than a damaged car with a salvaged title.
It's back. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-355-Spider-1995-Black-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ4598555701QQcategoryZ6212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Too scary without a look. I tried to contact the original seller here in FW, he called but didnt have time to show it. At 46k it was probably a good deal for DIYers. At 55k, only 10k more buys a no story car.
