Here's a photo from the online version of the NYT. The caption reads: "A Ferrari sat partially submerged in the sand and water in Gulf Shores, Ala."

Someone just emailed this story to me with the subject, "very sad."
I wonder.. Definitely a Cali spyder, but hopefully a replica...
On a positive note, I don't know of one that is quite that color, do you? It's not bordeaux metallic, and it's not quite your standard red either by the looks of it.
    :(

I hope it is, as Keith Martin would say, a fakey-do! Besides, what are the chances that a real California Spyder would be left that close to the water on the eve of a hurricane? The serial number experts should be able to sort this out soon.........

I don't know, what looks like it could be that color? Maybe 1525GT, 1527GT, or 1699GT? I don't know if any of those are currently in Florida

99% sure the photo is (also) a fake.

Anyway the wind blows, the car is a (bad) replica: the kick up is in wrong place. It also seems to have a vent window. Quite sure it is a Bueller: one of the numerous faults in its design is the position of kick back which really makes the hunchback of Notre Dame spring to mind!!!

    Best wishes, Kare

Here is a good photo of the Bueller (or Modena). Note also that the car in river seems to have an outside filler in exactly the same location.

Maybe Enzo got mad and threw a big black rock at it...?

    Best wishes, Kare

The windshield surrond looks different though as the replica has no wing window. The car in the photo looks like it does.

It simply MUST be a replica. I can't fathom the idea that somebody would leave a $1mil + car in a garage directly in the path of a Cat 4 hurricane!!!

That's an MGB tail light with the square reflector. No doubt it's a fake.

its no fake, and its not a ferrari, so whoever said it was, or that it was trying to be one, its an alfa romeo Giulia/Giulietta Spider,
alfa have a much older and similarily distinguisehed history in teh past as ferrari, since enzo ran teh alfa teams in teh 30's!
