Hi gang For several years now, some of us here have been running in the International Fantasy Grand Prix F1 series. We're looking for a few more folks for this season -- or we're looking for a LOT more folks, and we'll set up a second division. The rules *look* intimidating, but it's actually pretty simple: with a budget of $50 million, pick 5 drivers, one chassis, one motor, and a sponsorship package. Fantasy points are based on real-world points, and winning generates cash for driver/chassis/motor upgrades. To see how this budget works out, you can play with the calculator: http://www.ifgpf1.com/tools/qk2011.html Full rules are available from the main page: http://ifgpf1.com/wik/index.php?title=Main_Page We play for pride and a plaque. It's truly an international league, with folks from England, Spain, US, and Texas. If you're interested, please let me know. Hopefully some existing player will give some reviews on here. I'll fully admit the website needs help Thanks, T
This league had been limited by the organizers to a dozen or so for several years, and I was happy to be a part of the expansion out to 20 or so over the last couple years... and the organizers have always listened to feedback and made tweaks season to season to make the game more engaging and fun. My favorite part is the pricing and budgeting of the available components to build a team. No one has the budget to build a dream team. And the organizers do a great job of pricing everything such that you seem to always be a million or two short! Which means you have to be creative and make tough decisions about what combinations of components are most important. I always end up with a team that barely resembles my original plans... More later...
Sorry dude - I forgot about your email on that, I'll get back to you soon. "Oops!" I joined for the '09 season, and was fortunate enough to become the only rookie champion in history "They" said it couldn't be done without the engine discount you can buy the previous season! [A, sideways damnit, pic of the plaque Tillman very kindly sent is below] At the start of that season I was one of the few who believed the testing times Brawn were doing, and took a flier...... With hindsight I should have gone Brawn/Brawn (chassis/motor), but at least some early season winnings allowed me to trade later in the season...... Suffice to say, the 2010 season didn't go as well But, if you follow F1 (!), it's a fun "game" - It would be even better (IMHO) if there was more "trash talking" between teams, and maybe a thread here would "tempt" folk in that direction? I have done the league 2-3 years now and it is a blast! Very involved and I like the strategy. There are high level management talks between Tillman's boss and my boss in Geneva about making this the official FerrariChat F1 league in 2012. You might try to grab one of the limited spots this year as practice.
Hi gang If you're interested in joining, send me a PM or drop an email to [email protected] We're getting pretty close to the limit we want to see this year, so let me know. Thanks Tillman, Team Principal of Scuderia Modificata, sponsored by Bubba's Beer, Bait and Ammo, home of the Rovin' Rednecks Hospitality Tent. Well, ya snooze ya lose. If there is A LOT of interest I'd like to play too. Tillman, did you just fill up a team or a league or?? Can someone start their own team?? Maybe I should read the link.
