looking at a CPO 2012.. noticed on carfax that ignition coil(s) were replaced during its routine maintenance services in 2013, 2014, and 2015. During the 2017 and 2018 maintenance checks, on the genuine maintenance program sheet, it says "Blow coils perform UP TO Engine No. 186125 -each year-" in addition to the routine fluid and annual checks those years.

Dealer says the 17 and 18 were just cleaning coils.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

The ignition coils were never replaced as part of routine services. Carfax has got it wrong. As part of routine maintenance on early 458's (engine number up to 186125), the dealership was supposed to remove the ignition coils and blow any dirt/carbon off of them with compressed air. They would pay next to nothing for the extra time required to perform this task, which is fairly time consuming. After removing the coils on cars that were essentially new and not seeing any carbon or dirt build-up, I stopped doing it as it was pointless. I never saw any other techs in the shop do it.
