Hello, Dear all, I have an issue to solve on a 365 GT4 2+2 : On the owner's manual the references of the ignition distributors are Magneti Marelli S138B. The ones of this car have been stolen and I have to find new ones... hard task !!! Do you know 2 available ? . I found S159A and S85, can they fit the car ? The S85 was the one used in the Daytona if I remember well. What the letters A or B (like S85A or S85B) stand for ? Thank you for your help.
I believe that the suffix letters would denote very minor differences within the same family -- i.e., S159A and S159B are used on dual distributor 308 but have different advance curves (so S159B isn't really an option for you -- although the base castings may be very similar). www.allferrariparts.com shows that they have S138B available -- PN 350334 (Marelli #61013802) for a 365GTB4/C4 US version Although www.eurospares.co.uk shows that the 365GT4 2+2 distributor is 100590?
T Rutlands has a pair of distributors that will work. They are built to S138B specification. These were originally S159B (308) but the cam was re machined to be a six lobe, the drive portion and advance curves etc are now also correct. These have been rebuilt with new points, condensers etc and are ready to install in any USA Daytona, USA C/4, or the (euro only) 365 GT4 2+2 !
