Hey everyone, I’ve attached a video to help.

1989 328. As you can see, battery seems to be working but it won’t start and gauges don’t come on. I’m not a mechanic so before I have her towed to my guy wondering if this could be a simple battery or fuse replacement issue (which I can fix at home).

Any thoughts? And thanks in advance.

If the windows also don't work with the key "on", try a different ...113 relay in the "U - relay for key controlled services" position -- for a test, just steal the ...113 horn relay (but even if relay U is bad, IIRC, the engine should still run).

If the windows do work with the key "on" (and you have the same trouble) = that's a more difficult thing. The alternator warning light coming "on" when the key is turned "on" is a good sign that the ignition switch is OK.

Of course, still check all the fuses to see if any are blown.

(IIRC, the instruments are very unrelated to the ignition system and injection system operation except for some sort of very far upstream +12V power problem).

Stenley, have you tried a new battery? You could hear the engine turning over when you tried to start it.

You guys are the best. Thanks for the suggestions.

The windows don’t work when key is on so I will try and see if it’s that relay. Thanks for that Steve.

The battery is only 2-3 years old and it’s always on a tender but I’ll try that if the relay doesn’t do the trick. Thanks for that as well.

If the windows still don't work with a different ...113 relay in relay U position, there's a very large 2-spade connector on the RH side of the fuse-relay panel just above the fuses with two big red wires (this brings +12V to the fuse-relay panel from the positive battery terminal). Wouldn't hurt to unplug/replug that connector to rewipe those connections. The other end of those two large red wires are attached to a threaded stud on the positive battery terminal = wouldn't hurt to make sure that that end is also clean and tight.

The engine spun rapidly when you tried to "start" so the battery is fine.

As I’ve pointed out I’m no mechanic so please be gentle with responses to this next question :)

I need to access the fuse panel to swap out the relays. Easy enough. But the relay I need to get to is tucked up under the dash. How on earth do I get to it?

Do I remove the entire fuse panel by unscrewing it? I’m not sure I even see where the it unscrews.

Sorry guys, appreciate all helpful guidance.
