Hey Friends. Its time to rebuild my '79 308GTB's ignition. It's a late Euro., single distributor car with electronic ignition modules. Here are the issues I wish to address. Your advice and help is appreciated.

+ I need a good source of bulk 7mm ignition wire and connectors.

+ I need to know if the car, as described above, should use the red or black plug extenders. My car has a mix of both.

+ Do YOU recommend NGK spark plugs? I've always had great results from them in BMWs, etc.. If so, which plug do you recommend for spirited street driving and cruising.

    Rick,

A fellow f-chatter here apparently has a decent sized stash of appropriate 7mm plug wire - trying to recall who exactly it is (Dave Helms perhaps??)

For your year car you need the shorter of the two versions. The QV/3.2 has a slightly longer plug extender. The shorter ones (correct for your car) may come in both red or black - I've only seen the black ones however.

NGK plugs seem to have a consensus following here so, yes, they're well regarded. There are a couple of heat ranges however, so, do a search here for spark plugs and see which one is best for your application.

    Good luck!

It is Dave Helms in Colorado, he offers "wire rebuilding services" with a big roll of the now obsolete wire.....NGK BP5ES is what I use....that's the 'designation', it has a four digit part number at the NAPA store......

"Early extenders" is what I would order.....mine are indeed black, but it's about the internal resistance.....
