I posted this in the wrong section previously. I have pulled out the ignition switch out of the TR and separated the electrical component from the key section. I checked it and I am not alwyas getting continuity when I turn to the starter. The electrical component has the Bosch emblem stamped on it in two places but no part #. Does anyone know the part # and/or a good source? One F-chatter indicated it shouldn't be a Bosch unit but should be Sipea. Any expertise would be greatly appreciated. Brian of Steve? Tony
No can help Tony -- fortunately for me (but unfortunately for you ), I haven't had to do a repair in that area.
I serviced a 91 TR here and had to replace the ignition switch, According to FCI , Ferrari has discontinued all the TR ignition switches. You have to buy a switch for a 512M and it is about $1300 comes with door cylinders also. Wade
Sorry- I was out of town today. Steve thanks for your reply. Mike- going to the garage tomorrow and will check. Wade- Thanks for the advice. It seems like that is the only route. Tony
Mike: I checked the PM. The P/N listed is 121610 (Table 35, Item 38). It shows it as a one piece item. However, for some reason mine is in two parts, the key component and electrical component. The two are held together by two small hex head bolts. Tony
The switch should be the same as a BMW 2002 The BMW part # for the switch is 61-31-2-682-120 Ferrari part #7000707 SWF#800.040 Does your ignition look like this? If so, then the BMW switch will work. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
|Hi Tony , not sure if there is a mix up. Trying to get info on c4 brochure I think you may have . Sorry if this is a repeat as my sent box indicated my PM did not go through. Mike
MIke: Sorry- I don't have a C4 brochure. Sorry I took so long to reply- I was out of town for 10 days. Tony
|Tony, last time Ill bug you about this . I thought you posted that you had a box of brochures from a car show that showed a Daytona/Dino/and C4. If Im wrong please forgive and Ill not bother you again. Mike
Ok Mike- Now I know what you are asking. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Yes- When Algar and Chinetti merged they printed out the brochure. I had started the Mid-Atlantic Region of the FCA at the time and Algar brought a small box of them for one of our meets. They had some left over and gave them to me. Then at the NY Auto show- on the last night Coco had given me a bunch. I have to go into my storage locker to find them. Tony
TSyntax Are you absolutely sure that it is the ignition switch that is causing the problem? It could be the the starter solenoid that is the culprit. I had problems from time to time when I tried to turn the key, and the problem was solved when I replaced the starter solenoid. LVG
I replaced the starter solenoid with the Ace unit last year. Worked fine for a little while. Then the same thing happened. I checked all the relevant connections and cleaned them. I tested the ignition switch and it doesn't always make a connection to the last blade when I fully turn the key to start. Tony
