Hello Experts - would anyone know what that groove is for on the prop blades of the IL-14? Ice build-up related maybe?

This aircraft serves as a decoration and smoker's lounge at the nice restaurant at the end of R34 at Zürich airport. They also have a Mirage III at the entrance, a PC-7 with 180° sim screen, and 2 fixed base sims for the 777 and Connie, plus a helo sim. Cool place.

Allows de-ice fluid to travel along the entire span, versus a simple slinger at the root.

Thank you - so there would be de-icing fluid nozzles around the spinner somewhere I suppose. I couldn't see any.

Yup, the Russians used alcohol for deicing and also for anti-freeze. After WW-II, they lose quite a few soldiers who tried to drink US ethylene glycol anti-freeze.

Love that restaurant. Their Ilyushin has a pretty cool story too.
