NOW LEGAL tint combinations. 1. Up to 35% in the Rear/up to 35% front 2. 35-30% in the rear/up to 50% front 3. IF YOU HAVE BELOW 30% TINT IN THE REAR, YOU CAN NOT HAVE FRONT TINT 4. If you have an MPV, which include but are not limited to, SUVs, Station Wagons, minivans, Toasters, etc., and said MPV has factory installed privacy glass (smoked), you are allowed to have up to 50% tint in front.
Sounds very interesting. What does that mean applied to 308 (or any 2 seater Ferrari)? There is no "rear" on these cars as far as I know. Anyway, I'd be happy to increase the tint on my front window. Sides are already tinted, but we can always go darker.
psssssssssssssssst. you didn't hear it from me, but the new tint law is so confusing that we've unofficially been told to not even bother with tinted window tickets.
Did I mention, that I love this country? Seriously. I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but try to get away with tinted windows in Germany or Switzerland. Your car has to pass a control (think our EPA testing) every year for ANYTHING. Any kind of mods from the original have to be approved officially by the government or they have to be removed. Stuff like tinted windows, different wheels, wheel sizes, wings, different steering wheels, you name is mostly VERBOTEN. And the cops know all the rules and if they catch you with stuff like that on the vehicle, they send you directly to that control etcetc. The freedom in this country is just wonderful. Enjoy it.
We seem to, but then again this is the US and luckily our government isn't nearly as perfekt and effizient as those of Germany and Switzerland when it comes to enforcing the laws. Besides: Those countries too are working hard at coming up with even more new laws and ways to restrict the freedom of their citizens.
Actually, the past couple of months I picked up a few rights with respect to vehicles in Illinois (besides the tint law). Not to thread jack, but I aslo like SB1866, which means effective 1/1/2010 I can drive a "Low Speed Vehicle" (think golf cart that does 25 mph) on any street with a speed limit of 30 or below in Illinois. Oh yeah, and given the Electric Vehicle credits, I will get a $4500 tax credit for doing so.
