    Hi everyone,
I have a 1993 UK spec 348TS which I've owned for one and a half years now and only just the other day I noticed that when I open the door and the courtesy lights come on that the ignition keyhole also lights up from inside the steering column. I don't often drive it at night so I've not noticed it before. It's turns off when the courtesy light turns off. It's only noticeable in the dark.

It's a nice touch as in the dark you can be fumbling with the key.

Not sure if it's on all years of 348 but I assume it would also be on 355s.

    Cheers.

That's mentioned in the technical manual but I've never noticed it in my car. Can you tell where the light is coming from in relation to the keyhole?

It illuminates right inside the keyhole where you insert the ignition key, therefore it's situated inside the steering column.
It's a nice surprise to find something like this and just wanted to share with everyone that may not know about it.

You soon notice it at night when your interior light doesn't work and it's the only light in the car! :D

Oh, so that's how can you tell if your interior light isn't working...

Because those things put out so little light I'm not sure you'd notice otherwise. ;)

After @ 1 month of 348 ownership, I finally went to drive the car at night and discovered that the interior light wasn't working (I hadn't even thought about it until that moment!)

With no street lighting to help Me out and no torch with Me, it was pitch black inside the car apart from this faint glow coming from the ignition barrel.

Without that little light glowing, chances are the steering column cowling would have got a few key scratches on it as I fumbled around trying to put the key in the ignition.
