I'm currently running Fabspeed headers with test pipes and a Capristo III on my '01 360. The local police have advised me of numerous complaints in our small town so it's time to do something to make everyone happy. My question is this: will putting in hyperflow or some other aftermarket cats reduce reduce exhaust noise enough to make any difference, or should I just go to a valved Capristo and remain catless? Thanks.

Put the high flow cats on. Better for the environment and will sound better.

HJS German 200 cell sports racing catalytic converters will definitely quiet your Ferrari and or any car versus catbypass pipes or straight pipes.

Catalytic converters besides scrubbing the cars exhaust act as very small good mufflers to break up and attenuate exhaust noise.

Your Ferrari 360 and all North American specification 360 coupes and spider came factory equipped with 6 restrictive factory catalytic converters. The precat was located in your headers and you picked up major power and sports ar sound by installing fabspeed USA performance headers.

The rear Capristo muffler is a free flowing replacement for the huge factory restrictive 360 muffler and that added more sportscast sound. Lastly the catbypass pipes straight pipes eliminated 4 more catalytic converters two on each exhaust bank.

All together all these parts sound great but you have really let her breathe and exhale but have loud magnificent Ferrari sports car sound. The best way to dial it back is to install a set of 360 sports racing cats and that will bring down the sound level.

On my 2003 360 spider I have fabspeed headers, fabspeed sports racing cats and muffler and she is loud and F1 like ...........but catbypass pipes would be 20% louder and be surreal.

Should do it for fun but what I have is enough.

    I hope my advice helps

+1. I have some great fabspeed headers, hyper flow cats, and a beautiful fabspeed exhaust silencer. The car is louder than stock, but only noticeable to outsiders if I'm on the throttle hard and I want people to hear me. All the rest of the time, she just hums along nicely until I pin the gas pedal. Very gratifying, people don't turn their heads unless I'm on the gas. I like it.

Yes it's probably too loud when the locals complain to the police.

Do you have any sound clips of your car? I have a Euro 360 with a Capristo stage III exhaust. Considering straight pipes. Would love to hear your set up.

The car itself is an attention getter already. I don't need an extra loud exhaust to grab more attention, especially the gendarme. Installing the Capristo Remote Controller is as far as i wish to go IMHO. It's generally the young guys that want to hear the loud exhaust.

I have a full Capristo System (Headers, sports cats and Sport Muffler) on my 430 Spider with remote controller. I must admit I do find it a bit too loud with valves open driving round town so tend to drive in standard mode with valves closed at low RPM. When I had the Capristo muffler installed they set it up with Level 3 for valves on open and level 2 when closed. Level 2 is louder than standard but actually gives the car a real exotic sound and in fact sounds much better at low RPM than when valves fully open. Of course valves open as per factory settings and then all hell breaks loose :)

In the UK test pipes are illegal and in my opinion not needed as car is loud enough with the sports cats. Whenever I go to a supercar day, I definitely have one of the loudest and best sounding Ferrari's anyway. Worth having remote control switch just for amusing crowds to rev the car with valves open. Then it is insanely F1 loud!!!

I got it from Scuderia Systems in Egham, who are UK dealer for Capristo. Just speak to Manu he's very helpful. Cost about £10k for complete system on 430 including remote control. Joe Macari, Ferrari specialists in Wandsworth, London fitted the exhaust and were great as well. Well worth it.
