I am getting tired of these, the pointless Jerry Seinfield and Gates and the Mojave project ones are just getting annoying.
I was tired of it after the first commercial! It seems they are going after the "Groan Suck" factor instead of spending money on commercials that actually convey something other than Wasted Money and Suck. There is nothing remarkable or memorable about these ads other than the fact that they suck and convey suck in very loud words to the viewers. Here's how to not do suck: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYecfV3ubP8 Not nearly on the same level as the 1984 stuff, but GOOD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2-UuIEOcss I am a Mac. You want to know what the best thing about this ad campaign? IT WAS DONE ON A MAC!!! http://www.roughlydrafted.com/2008/09/19/microsofts-im-a-pc-ads-created-on-macs/
Here is the thing, PC still has 90% of the market share. So PC attacking Apple looks like it is picking on the small guy. Which is bad choice in my opinion. The "I am a mac, I am a PC" ad worked for Apple because everyone viewed Apple as underdog.
It was also done by the ad agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky, the ageny that does Apple's Mac commercials.
Who else would they use? Hasn't MS been copying Apple for years? What's the point? They have 90+% of the market, if Apple doubled their sales MS would still have 90%. Gates should've ignored Apple's ads; an elephant being harassed by a mouse.
The "they suck" crowd mostly seems to be Mac users, so a very biased group. As an effective marketing campaign, the "I am a PC" commercials are pretty good. They challenge the core of the "I am a Mac, I am a PC" ads which are that the PC is frumpy and awkward, and IMO they do a good job. The Gates/Seinfeld commercials that I've seen so far seem to be stupid, but I also read a thing that the first one where Gates is shoe-shopping is supposed to be like the Seinfeld show... "it's about nothing at all", which does sort of make it slightly funny. We'll see what the rest of the commercials in the line are like.
I have 2 - 3 Windows based computers, and 1 Mac. I use the Mac 95% of the time, unless it doesn't support the program I need. The Mac has always had the better product, since inception. They just need better software support so that they can penetrate businesses. The Mac never crashes, boots up in 3 seconds (my windows laptop takes... wait for it... 7 minutes !?$). For graphics stuff, its a no brainer. My wife takes tons of pics/videos of the kids, and the Mac is fantastic for managing this. If you took a 100 people and started with a blank slate, and exposed them to both computers...everyone would pick the Mac. But this isn't a fair economic fight. Windows is entrenched in the business place, and Mac refuses to allow competitors to use its OS... Like they say, its like Deja Vu all over again ...
Were price is a concern, isn't a Mac much more expensive than a comparable PC? 80% of PC's are probably sold due to its lessor price tag.
1, The best thing the devil ever pull was to make sure that he was not alive. 2, The best thing Microsoft pull is that we are here today and we stay here. So, As a father of a girl who is 14 years old,and a son 12 years.,,I thinking about how It should be If had a Apple Lisa
