Finally after almost two weeks and no Fchat I am proud to say I survived Hurricane Ivan. As of now I still have no power and have not been anywhere near a computer since the storm. Today is my first day back at work and I finally have a chance to say hi and thanks to everyone.
First of all to fill everyone in I took it upon myself to become the "eye of the hurricane" fchat reporter. Well that didn't last too long at all. Around 3 in the afternoon I was filling everyone in on the craziness when power to my house started blacking out.

That is where the story left off. Well shortly after I shut down my computer my family and I loaded up the cars and went a few miles away to my old grade school. They had a large cafeteria with huge brick walls which everyone thought was so "safe and secure". There was around 20 people there ranging in ages from 7 to 80 and everyone was dragging in all there personal belongings. One of the guys who helped maintained the school recruited me and my younger brother to help clog the bottoms of the doors with plastic bags to keep out any water. I have to admit I was rolling my eyes while we were doing this not thinking it was going to come up that high. I could not have been more wrong. Night time came and several wonderful Fchatters were calling to check on me. All I could tell then was that the wind was really picking up but the destruction had not yet begun. Then we lost power and everythig went black so everyone just dug in listening to the radio.
Around midnight the only two people awake was myself and my younger brother. The actual eye was not supposed to hit until around 1 or 2 so we figured we would take a look outside and see what things looked like. The second I cracked open the door it caught the wind and slammed open. It looked so crazy because there really wasn't any rain on the ground. The wind was gusting so hard that it was blowing sideways and never hit the ground. Trees were leaning to the point where it looked like they were about to snap. We decided it was best not to venture out so we went and laid down in the hall of the school.
At 2 AM my brother had passed out and I was the last one up. I layed there in the hall listening to the full force of the storm. I am trying to think of how to describe it but I really don't think even Carbon could put it into words. Trees snapping and stuff slamming into the building....all I can say is it was real intense. Every time the wind would really pick up and a good gust would hit the building dust and dirt from the ceiling would fall and sprinkle in my eyes. And then the real fun began.
Laying there scraping dirt out of my eye I heard this weird sound like someone pulling the plug on a drain. I sat up and saw the maintanence guys wonderful plastic bag system fail miserably. Water started coming in under the doors at a rate much higher than I prefered. I yelled for my brother to wake up and we both attempted to cram the bags back under the door. I couldn't believe how much was coming in and I scanned down the other end of the hall and saw a huge puddle forming. Puzzled I stood up and glanced out the window. Then I realized how much trouble we were in. The other side of the door had about three feet of water and it looked like a small ocean formed right outside the door. I stood there in shock for a second and yelled out for everyone to wake up. To be continued tomorrow when I get back to work.....

Not to sound rude or anything but I think that sounds like a pretty fun ordeal. Well maybe not fun to some so to say, but interesting none the less.

I don't know just sounds exciting. You are talking to someone who wrecked there car at 140 with no seatbelt and when I woke up I thought it was like a awesome roller coaster. And anytime theres a Tornado in my area I drive around to find it. Storms are interesting to me.
