But my knowledge is very limited. Can anyone provide me as much info as possible: Years produced - 95-99? Options - F1 trans, ... Versions - GTS, Berlinetta? Etc... or a website that could provide me this information. Also, I live in Anaheim Hills, CA so if anyone here can recomend someone that would help my find the "right" car, I would greatly appreciate it. My preference is a Yellow or Red 99 if this is in fact the latest model year. My expectation is 100K, sound right? Thanks!!!
You've come to the right place. There is a TON of information on here about 355's. I am no expert, but I recommend filling out your profile so others on here can more readily help you. When you get the 355, post pictures immediately! And you're just a stone's throw away from Crystal Cove, a weekly car gathering. There are usually a half dozen 355s that show up, so I recommend going and talking to the owners. See the SoCal section for information. Good luck!
Forza did a 355 buyer's guide piece a while back. I can photocopy it for you and fax or mail it to you if you would like.
I will fill out my profile now!!! I am aware of the Crystal Cove meet and have wanted to go but just can't seem to get up early enough on Saturdays. )) Thank you for your recomendations!!!
I come from Redondo Beach. About 40 miles. You can do it! You'll be glad you did, seriously. I see you have an M3 vert - very nice! Good luck with the search
Well you are at what I think is the best part of moving into the exotic market - searching for your Ferrari! It is a ton of fun to look and then ultimately pick it up/have it delivered to your stable. You are doing the right thing - do a ton of research, ask questions on this site about problems and the specific car you are looking at - chances are one of us know it or can look at it for you. One of the best starting places for a high level overview about the model you are looking at is: http://www.qv500.com/indexferrari6.php Scroll down to the 355 section. You will find a ton of good starter information. Next do a search on 355 at the top left corner of the menu above. Do a search for "355 problems" or variations of that - you will find a ton of great information from us 355 owners (or past owners). No matter how dumb you think the question is - do not hesitate to ask this forum.. The worst experience you could have is getting a bad 355 that requires thousands of unexpected dollars in repairs - and that is something none of us like to see. Ask us about the specific cars your are looking at, do we know it, price, etc - and from what dealer - there is very few dealers that one of us on here have not dealt with. Also Check the Ferrariads section above. This is where many of the F-chatters put our cars up for sale - and what better place to get info on that car than here Good luck with your search - and welcome to F-chat! Rich Wallace
Rich, Thank you!!! Being a BMW M3 owner and visiting the M3 forum in the past... I can NEVER recall getting such a kind, helpful and civalized response... EVER!!! I greatly appreciate yours. Is there someone you would right off the bat recomend me to in So CA to help me find one? Thanks again, Nick
Ah heck...I owe it to pay back all the help I got. I bought my 355 about 3 months ago, after about 3 months of learning & searching (and 2 PPI's)...I think I can give you LOTS of info. I'm in the San Fernando Valley. If you wanna come on up I'll let you check-out my 355 and we can "do" lunch and talk EVERYTHING you need to know before buying a 355. Shoot me an email at [email protected] We can even go right up the street to Auto Gallery and drool over some of their inventory. - Steve
I've posted this several times, but I am SO amazed at the caliber of people on this forum. I've seen people offer strangers rides, or even drives in their car. I've seen people go WAY out of their way to help others. This forum is filled with good, generous people. I don't even own a Ferrari yet, and I get the same level of respect as everyone else. Hats off to every member of this forum!
Nick - Steve would be a great start - He had some great posts about his search and ultimate purchase of his 355... We have so many great West Coast members - not to mention a ton of places to go look at a few. Steve did some great homework on the 355 - along with the help of some F-chatters - I would hook up with him by phone and have him give you a brain dump. I am also available to give you any advise that I can - I had my 355 for a couple of years - and a few F-cars before that. Give me a Private Message and would be glad to give you my phone number as well to talk through some things. PS. This site has been awesome for many of us. I specifically joined and contribute due to the fact that this site - not only has informed me over the last few years - but saved me thousands in tips, dealers to stay away from, what to look for, etc. You should consider becoming a member to help the cause under the subscription menu above - if you feel so inclined to do so... Rich
Can you believe his generosity...unbelievable!!! I think "Steve would be a great start" sounds like a huge understatement to me!!! And sure enough I just got the fax that Dr Tommy Cosgrove said he would send me. Thank you, this looks like it will provide me some great info!!!
Nick, I just stepped into Ferrari world last year myself w/ a '99 355 Spider. I'm in Newport Beach so if you need any help, send me a line. Hopefully we'll see you at Crystal Cove.
hehe go richard! I can't offer any advice on the 355, being a '87 voyager owner myself, but I just wanted to say how nice everybody here is too! Been offered 2 1/2 rides already!

Just got off the phone with Nick....his induction into our ranks is as much destiny as it is inevitable. Nick: We have scanned your automotive inventory and determined your means of transportation as being inferior to that of ours. Your skills and addiction for speed will be assimilated into our Ferrari Collective. You will dispense with your Bavarian tendencies and submit to the way of the pasta: RESISTANCE IS FUTILE. Nick......Enzo is your father Seriously guys, Darth550 took me in and even came with me to 2-3 "check-out's"....I'm obligated to return the favor AND am delighted to do so. After spending so much time finding mine, it will be fun to pick-up the chase again and hunt down another deal.
That is GREAT and VERY funny!!! I hereby submit willingly, especially if it includes pasta!!! I look forward to meeting you and your help!!! Nick
Nick, mine is for sale. It is a yellow 99 355F1 Spider with chrome HRE wheels. It is near flawless. It's truly stunning. It has 14K miles. I have taken meticuluos care of it. It runs excellent. I has not had any major repairs to my knowledge. I put a new clutch in it due to the previous owner driving it in auto mode too much. But other than that I have not had any problems at all with it. I drive it weekly to keep it running good. It's never been raced. I use P21S wax on it. It has been maintained by Lambo Dallas. They have the Ferrari tech with some of the most experience in the nation. If ywant pics or anything just PM me. Good luck and you will love it when you buy it. I love the shreak that mine lets out with the top down. It is uterly intoxicating.
Wow, I was just reading this thread and was so amazed by how nice the people are around here. I just joined Fchat like 3 days ago; this is my very first post. I wasn't going to post anything, but I just noticed that Rich is also from Cincinnati. I'm very interested in getting a 355 as well. Was wondering if you could extend your helpfulness to a fellow Cincinnati native who is looking for his very first F-car Rich. Thanks.
NickF- My brother lives in Anaheim Hills and has a 99 spider F1, red tan low miles, full 30K service done, and he is thinking about a 360 spider. I have driven his car and it is perfect. Let me know if you are interested. Al
