Good eyes!! It has test pipes and a Borla. To be honest, I haven't had a chance to really crawl around the car yet and discover all of it's "hidden treasures". That's today's task (well, perhaps I'll wait for the sun to rise first). OK, it's 3:50am, and I can't sleep at all. I wonder if the neighbors would mind me firing her up in the driveway right now? Yesterday, after going for a test drive, I put it back in the garage and decided to take the BMW "7" to dinner with some friends. I know this sounds creepy, but I have newfound respect for BOTH cars now. Honestly, there's nothing like the grin stuck on my face from the 348.... BUT, you can't beat the nice warm seats, and mind-numbing luxury of an E38 Bimmer. (Yikes! What am I saying?!? Get out there and drool on the F-car, dude!!!)
Glad you found your car! BTW the car is black on black but has factory tan seats! Just to be exact. The trailer looks like Brad's trailer, am I right? Don't go too crazy on the detailing. Drive it more. Besides the electronic fuel release door opener there is also a manual release when you open the rear engine lid and right by the fuel gate is a pull to manually release the door. JFYI In the fuel gate is also a manual release for the rear lid You got a great car and a great price. I know Mike lost some money on this deal.
Martin - You're right, the trailer is Brad's -- and it was spotless -- like his entire truck. You could eat a 7 course French meal on the floor, and your foie gras would still taste fantastic. OK, maybe that's a little over the top -- but the truth is, this guy could carry my F-car anywhere, and I'd be completely comfortable! (I'll post his addy later if anyone is looking for transport), Electronic fuel door release?? DOH!!! I just took a big screwdriver and wedged it into the door until I heard something snap. That fixed it. just kidding... I opened the engine and pulled the manual cable. ;-) This whole experience has been like drugs. Am I in for a "crash"?
We all know how that feel my friend. You have officially contracted Ferrari-AIDS. Once you have been infected you are done for life! Better explain that to your other significant half. The only way to get off Ferrari-AIDS is by death! There is no cure, no relieve other than buying MORE! When you get it bad, call Doctor Martin www.4Ferrari.com LOL
Congratulations, your new baby looks great. Hope the weather lets you put some miles on it this winter. Do you really race Jack Russells? We have a Jack Russell & an English Mastiff, and get a huge kick out of watching the races when they're on TV. Cheers and good luck, Will
Congrats! If I remember right, your car has an "ansa" exhaust... with test pipes. I know it's not a tubi but could be a another brand also.... have fun!
Nice 348!!! Love the color! Congrats! ...In the future I'm going to buy a 348 for sure...you will see.
I dont know how i remeber this but i think i do, were u on MBworld a while ago? your username really sticks out! BTW, that is a beautiful 348, looks great in black!
Either you've done a very swift profile of me, or perhaps we've met before! I used to hang around on several MB forums when I had my 97 E420, but the car is now gone. Frankly, I'd bet a small farm that any Ferrari will cost LESS to maintain that my "E" class did. In 3 years of ownership, I put nearly 15K into the car in basic maintenance! Mind you, the car was never driven hard, only received geniune MB parts/service, and totally pampered. Here's a *SMALL* list of what went wrong in 3 years: 1. Dashboard cracked (in a 4 year old Mercedes -- always garaged) 2. Two window regulators broke 3. Sunroof tracks broke 4. Brake piston seized 5. Turn signal stalk broke off in my hand 6. Factory Xenon headlamp blown. 7. Main SRS computer went nuts and needed total replacement 8. Entire steering rack had to be replaced... (straw that broke the camel's back, for me.) IMHO, the above stuff isn't big ticket maintenance that you'd expect (brakes, belts, etc.) -- this was stuff that on ANY other car should last for 200K miles. Driving the car was wonderful... That 420 motor in a W210 is pure silk. I was horrified at the build quality. When I decided to sell, I stupidly went right back to the same brand and nearly bought a CLK55. Brought the car home, and wife (smartly) said, "maybe you should look at a Bimmer, because I love mine". 48 hours later, I was driving my 2001 740i sport. I might be delusional, but a properly maintained car -- Mercedes, Ferrari, or Hyundai, should never have problems like those listed above.
Yup, that's me. We still have our ML, but got rid of the C class a while back. Good memory! -John edit: Just read Jack Russel's reply. I think MB was talking to both of us at the same time. Me for the MB forum reference and Jack Russel for the black 348 reference. I'm not 100% sure though. Oh well, I need more coffee...
that picture reminds me of the day I got my 89 348ts after waiting 3 weeks for delivery they brought it in a big truck, as they were lowering it out of the truck two blond chicks in a honda stoped and asked when I was going to take them for a ride in it. Got in started it up, sounded great drove around the block and then it rained for the next 5 days, thats my life though, I loved mine for the 3 years I owned it, enjoy yours its beautiful. john
Glad you are enjoying it! Guess I should have told you where the gas tank release was Martin, don't tell everyone that dealers lose money, they will think that is normal and expect it Mike LNS
Sorry my post may have been a little unclear, i was refering to bigbaddad if he was on MB forums but to my surprise you actually owned a MB and were on forums too is just very funny. Sorry to hear about the problems you had with the MB, My famlily has had tons of MBs and to me up untill 2002 and up is when it seems Mercedes is getting a little better with quality and reliability. On all the cars below 2002 we had many problems you have had such as on all the cars many times the windows stop working, on others fuel pumps, gas tanks, and alternators went. These were all new at the time i will add. On both my Mercedes i currently own i have never had any problems, and thank god no window problems like i used to have. I better not jinx my self! I can understand why you did not want another MB though, a bad experience can turn you off from the whole copmany. Thats only normal. Your car looks great again, i see you must like black cars, i do aswell! Hopefully in a year i will get rid of one of my Mercedes and replace it with a F355 or maybe a 360 if things look well. Best of luck with the car.
