As I was busy changing my avatar picture for the last few weeks, I didn't really follow what happened in F1 apart from the actual race results (and I watched the Hungary race!). Can anyone give me some cliff notes?

(I missed you guys, btw :))

    Merc won everything.

Congrats on the new job, Traitor (mercedes AND selfdriving cars?)!

Did you ever get that E38 7 series? If so, do you have to get rid now? ;)

Hey florian, it's the usual borefest save the tyre pressure excitement at the end.

Any inside scoop, I heard AirFix are signing up as sponsors of Mercedes f1! Hahaha, it's a joke mate, don't panic

Doesn't surprise me, now that I'm on the job! :D ;)

    Guilty as charged

I bought a E39 wagon instead which I've wanted to post about for ages. It gets rid of itself on its own, although the seller was perfectly trustworthy and had mountains of service documents, it started falling apart a month after I got it... just today, a couple of cylinders ceased to take part in the combustion process

There is an amazing coverage on the corporate intranet about the F1 races, with lots of facts and numbers. No secret data though, just public information well assembled :)

How'd I miss that thread!?.... No matter, congrats on the new gig - Sounds almost (but not quite) like you should be paying them! :D

Good luck with the PhD. I can't help thinking you'll be in F1 before too long. ;)

As for F1, as others have noted, you really haven't missed very much other than F1's version of "deflategate", and that's got it's own thread!

    Cheers,
    Ian

At least it had four still going.... I had a Ford Cortina with the famous "Crossflow" that did the same, but 4 from 6 is a lot better than 2 from 4! ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

Thanks Ian! :) Although I don't think I'll end up in F1, the topic I'm working on right now is much too hot and too promising to even think of going anywhere else ;)

4 from 6 still has you going 100 max with bad vibrations, and I have to drive 250km to my parents' tomorrow where my diagnosis interface still is somewhere

Dave, I've waited for you to chime in! :) BB it is. As soon as everything is set and done in my new apartment I'm ready to go.. for startes, I live 5min from the Motorwold, if you know that one ;)

Given the price of go-juice there, you'd probably be better off to buy a new tool! [OBDII I presume?]

Good luck, great to have you back BTW.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Also meant to note; While I understand what you're saying, I seem to recall you expressing interest in it. Having been there, done that, if you've got any interest in it I'd say, "now" is the time - The travel is insane, which is not a problem until you get hitched etc.......

There'll always be "self driving cars" you can hitch your wagon to (!) - But for most, F1 is a young mans game.

    Cheers,
    Ian
