I'm thinking of flying there just for the day with wife.

I'm going to check on a rental at Salinas-- Monterey sounds complicated.

I've never used uber-- maybe I should try it.

    Ideas?

Sorry, car rental. Some way of getting to track-- prefer motorcycle. :)

Either Monterey or Salinas. Never flown into either one.

I'm not current IFR so VFR only.

    Thx

Monterey has rental cars on site, not sure about Salinas. You could walk to Laguna from Monterey airport LOL...

I haven't flow to either one yet, keep planning to but always end up going somewhere else.

You definitely have to be aware of the Marine layer coming in at Monterey, sometimes doesn't lift till after lunch, and can roll in early as well....Salinas not affected nearly so much. Like I said I always keep checking but end up somewhere else.... Monterey is just a cool place regardless

I've flown into Monterey probably 200 times. You can pretty much bet on the marine layer playing a factor. Usually it will burn off by 11AM, but sometimes 2PM, or not at all. Rental cars are a plenty at KMRY and the field is very close to Laguna Seca. Most likely the winds will be out of the West and you'll be landing 28 (L or R depending on size of A/C). The marine layer is usually around 1,000 MSL so it is possible to fly to SNS and then descend down below the marine layer (before reaching it) for a VFR approach, BUT, there is rising terrain east of the field and south of centerline so be VERY CAREFUL if you try such a thing. Do not allow yourself to get into IMC unless you are on the approach!!! If it were me I would probably line up a rental car at both locations, plan on KMRY and divert to KSNS if necessary. If you do go to KMRY you'll get a cool view of Laguna Seca as you turn base to final, but don't get distracted (terrain, remember).

I had a great trip-- into SNS at Jet West--$55 rental car. $140 for tix.

I guess I'm not in the loop-- all parking above front grandstands said "Ferrari Parking only"

With 5 F cars..... I would have driven my 348 ts.

Had a good free lunch at Porsche Platz tent in SF shirt and PCA membership card.
Racing was just okay-- Powerplants all turned down.

Edit-- outstanding WX would have allowing VFR all day into MRY.
