I like the orange. I absolutely hate the blacked out look. What's up with that? I'll take a colorful paint job over black all day long.
Anyone can order a Police Road King. Sales are not limited to police. Prices on all the bikes are negotiable. The only advantage to the police version is the adjustable air saddle. For that you give up the cruise control. The lights and siren controls are where the cruise control switches used to be so they leave off CC.
Its a fad. Not unlike buying a nice new BMW and having it wrapped in flat black. Some people out there actually think it looks cool ergo, they are cool.
Not what the Goldwing riders say. Repairs were not infrequent and eye wateringly expensve. A number of ex Goldwing riders I know were motor officers. When their department switched to Harley and they got some experience with them they got rid of the personal Goldwings and went to Harley. Several rode with a small group I used to go on rides with. They were with departments that had Kawasaki, Honda or BMW for years. Once over the irrational fear of HD they loved them. After an hour or two lots of motorcycles feel like you can sit on it all day long. Tell me that at the end of an 800 mile day.
I come from the Monroney sticker world of automobiles. I had never heard of a lack of a MSRP before. Matt
I would definitely want cruise control on a Harley! The whole point is to ride long distance on the highway, and cruise control makes a huge difference. I'm actually thinking of getting a throttle lock (okay, not quite cruise control) for my Triumph Sprint ST.
I don't use it a lot. Just as with highway pegs to give my butt a break for a few minutes now and then. CC lets me give my right had a beak now and then.
Riding across Kansas, when your heated gloves fail, or you left them at home, and it is in the '30's, cruise control lets you put your right hand in your pocket. priceless.
Well I have ridden across West Texas in the 40's with snow next to the road. A pair of surgical gloves under my regular unheated riding gloves kept my fingers warm and cozy. A trick my retired motor officer riding buddy taught me.
Dale, maybe this is what you need? Harley motor and all? https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2007-buell-xb12r-firebolt/ Too bad they never let Buell use the V-Rod motor...
Buell made an adventure version, the Ulysses: https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2023/12/23/2006-buell-ulysses-xb12x-review-adventure-touring-motorcycle/
I love my Harley’s (Fatboy and Dresser) both are customized to me and look, feel, ride awesome. They are set up for long distance hauling which I do less and less. My Ducati XDiavelS and my Hyabusa’s are also fantastic. I have a few other cool ones that I can’t ride any more but are complete art.
