Okay- I bought my 348TS (1990) in November 2005. So far I've put about 2,500 miles on the car. A few observations: #1) I'm surprised how well the A/C and Heat work. Used both during the winter and unusually warm 95+ degree days lately here in Oklahoma. #2) Surprised how fast the car is. I freak out friends who have newer iron, including Vipers, Z06's etc. At the end of the day I think it's the brakes, the cornering, and the sound. For it's age, this is a really fun car. #3) The car (black on tan) is striking. I've made a lot of new friends. Never anticipated the recognition. Most people readily identify the car as a "Ferrari" ooohh and ahhh. #4) Bang for the buck. For the money I'm having a blast. Trying to quantify, the best I can do is compare to my friends that have boats, except I use the thing every day (if I can). I can go home, fire up my car and go to lunch (or dinner). It's a thrill. #5) Still looking for a 1985 308 as a 2nd car, but I'm loving my 348. Cheers, Scott
Glad to read it. I had a 92 348 and I have 2 85 308s. It is a very good choice. I think you will really enjoy a 308.
Your honor, let the record show the defendant has once again shown, beyond any reasonable doubt, that BLACK 348's RULE !! Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming...
That is really great news.......I have a soft spot for a specific black/red 348 GTB (well I am passionate about all models in GTB in general as they look so very nice)..... I have seen one pristine 348 which I almost bought. 348s have a nice look and great performance. I may be a newbie ownder of a 89 328 GTB, but when I look at the 348 vs. 355......I think they are really very similar actually.....you can see the lineage of the 348 in the 355 in a big way.....The 348 is a really classy looking Ferrari in my opinion....
I feel the same about about the looks of the 348 and the 355. Make no mistake though, the 355 is an amazing ride compared to my car, they are just totally different. That being said, for some reason, in styling alone, the 348 bridges "old school" with the 355 to 360/430 perfectly in my opinion. In hindsight it's amazing how "right" they got it. Does anyone else agree?
The 348 styling is outstanding, especially in person. The lines are perfect. Front, sides, rear...perfect. To improve on the 348's perfect exterior looks you can change wheels or install the 348 Competizione clear headlights in place of the pop-up lights, but that's just a higher level of perfection.
No Doubt your 348 Primer was instrumental in my purchase. Very well done. I actually showed up to inspect the car with print outs off the website.
Thanks. What's amazing is that I've only had my 348 for a year. I was stunned that no one had done a 348 Primer in all of the years before my purchase. It's too good a car to have let that situation stand, so I did the Primer. One day I'd like to have the 348 Primer professionally peer reviewed, and once it is cleaned up I'd like to see it added as a one-click resource to a site like F-Chat. Until then, it's as good as it gets for the 348 Brotherhood.
i sincerely think us 348'ers are the best group on fchat, for the best car model , i havnt seen such bonding in any other fcar . i luv you guys ...lol
Gotta love it-had mine for almost 2 years, still turn around and look at it, look for curvey roads-what a great car!
I gotta say that I agree that Black 348s are stunning. I have a soft spot for black cars I guess, but the 348 looks soooo good in that color. I saw that Gary Bobileff have a Grey 348 Spider last summer and I nearly flew to Cali to look at it. I'm glad I didn't though, as I probably would have had to buy it. The car looks awsome in that color (in the pictures at least), very interesting after seeing so many in red.
No doubt, you really prefer these ligths over our pop-ups ? I think the pop-ups are a work of art. But I have to admit that I mostly drive with the foglights on instead of popping them windcatchers up... Our 348 looks amazing with 355 or 512 wheels. But a costly upgrade. A few weeks ago a set of nice 355 wheels with dunlop 9000's with a few thousand miles on them went away for 2010,00 on ebay.de.
Yes. I'm contemplating building the boxes to replace the pop-up lights. Don't get me wrong, I like our pop-up lights...but the Competizione's fixed lights are awe-inspiring! That's a very aggressive look. I don't think that look would work well for the softer F355 lines, but for the hyper-masculine, angular 348 nose, the fixed lights are a great look (to me).
Ok. No problems with that ;-) I guess everybody has its taste. To my opinion also the "speciale" rearlights make the car look so much older... but the owners won't agree with me neither I guess.
I totally agree with you there brother I like the pop-ups,but the lights in my car are crap,so i try to avoid nightdriving, but late afternoon/evenings i drive with the bottom driving lights on too. And the 355/512 wheels look beautiful on the 348
