    Advice needed

I know this is a Ferrari site BUT I thought I could get an unbiased opinion.

Here is the deal I had a 2005 Mercedes E-320 CDI I bought it for my wife she loved this car and it was practical as it was diesel powered and I am in the towing business so we have diesel fuel on tap at our shop.

The car was black with white interior the white interior was a hang up for me just, a bear to keep the interior clean.

So when my wife took her vacation to visit her family in the Philippines’s I sold the car, when she returned her car was gone and I have been in the dog house ever since!

So now I must replace her car now, here is my question.

There are the three cars on my wife’s list and they are all Black on Black….

    E-320 CDI
    CLS-500
    ClS-55

Any input will be most helpful.

    Thanks
    Charles

There is a new MB 2008 C Class Special edition Black with a Special White leather seat interior that was made for ??SAK's 5th Avenue" as a special edition with some features that will not be available for a year or 2 + all the bells and Whistles. Call Damien Wheat At MB in Santa Monica,Ca. I do not have his number handy. This is a rare car and very sweet and your wife will Love it, the milage and cost and extra resale value should offset the diesel fuel. It handles well and has some guts. If it is sold send me a PM. Now if I could get my 2007 500+ hp MB E65 Daily Driver back from my wife I would buy her a new C Class.

So, you sold your wife's car out from under her because you didn't like the interior (even though you bought it in the first place) and now you're asking a bunch of guys what to replace it with (read: NOT HER)?

    That's just weird!
Take her to the MBZ dealership, open your checkbook and STFU!

    Advice given.

LOL! No sensitivity points there, but I agree 100%. At this point, it's going to be "whatever makes your wife happy."

Just get the one that you can get the best deal on and that meets your needs. If you take her it'll probably cost you more. Once you get the new car make sure it's the end of it ;)

    Funny.... but true..... LOL

If you're looking for opinions on style, speed, reliablity, there are a few benz lists/sites that could probably answer more about the cars in question. I remember from my Benz ownership days, that certain models, years, and engines had issues and certain ones didnt (for instance, the W140's had problems with the heater cores leaking and running antifreeze into the car).

I'd find a MB site and post, maybe they could give you better advice as to the pros/cons of each model listed.

Why don't you let HER choose? Wouldn't that make more sense?

My girlfriend wanted a black/black SLK so that's what we bought. I don't even fit in her car properly :)

+1. What in the world were you thinking???? It's her car, and without telling her you sold it out from under her, and NOW you want to replace it without asking her for her preferences. I suspect your marriage isn't long for this world. Get your head out of your rectum.

I don't think your going to get an unbiased opinion here. Anyway selling your wifes car without her consent would indicate a bigger problem than just needing to replace it. In my relationship I couldn't possible contemplate such a decision.

Ask yourself "Do you want to be happy or do you want to be right"?

If your answer is the former then ask her what she wants and buy it.

From peronal experience, the 500 CLS is a fantastic car and pretty powerful. The rear wheels will break away even with the traction control on, and with it off, the car is pretty insane and manageable for its size.

Women also tend to really like the cars appearance.

    Good luck!

I'm sure that you CLS fans are great guys so don't take this wrong but every CLS I've encountered on the road were driven by jerks. I now have this "perception" in my head. It sticks, just like the Chevy vs Mopar vs Ford perceptions in High School.

My $.02 -- Buy her what SHE wants. They have myriad ways of getting even for making them unhappy and upset. Two words to always keep in mind: "Lorraina Bobbit"! You screwed up, so whatever she wants, she gets. ;-)

The CLS is a nice car but the back seat was a huge disappointment when I test drove one with my stepdad. As long as there won't ever be anyone over 6' in the back, then fine...otherwise stick with something else.

Maser QP over the CLS-55 IMO.

Very strange list. The E320 CDI would cost around US$50k, the CLS500 around US$75k and the CLS55 AMG around US$130k. Your wife's list does not make any sense at all and you choosing between these three cars does not make any sense either. They are all not in the same price category.

Make this easy, buy her a new MB that SHE wants and add in a little Cartier as a suprise. She will soon forget about the old car. Fight only the battles you can win, and this one you have already lost, so build up your credit for next time. Best of Luck

Thanks for all your input, also let me clarify things.

The first car was a surprise for my wife I have dealers license and a friend called me to say this car was going to sell for a good price thought my wife would like it (BUT) the white interior was the hang up that surprised me as she was at the time driving a X type Jaguar and it had a white interior and no complaint so go figure.

We have been married for ten years and in that time she has had 20 plus cars I buy them wholesale then when she tires of the car I retail it make a few dollars we both have some fun.

So when she was on vacation she said surprise me when I return home, so I did sold the car and will NEVER buy one with white interior.

Of all the cars she has driven she enjoyed the Mercedes the most save for the white interior.

She got a kick out of the comment that our marriage could be in peril guess I made it sound like I am an evil fellow and sold this poor girls car and left her with nothing.

Anyway she provides me with the list and all I was hoping for was some input about the Cars.

If some one knows of a Mercedes’ site as good as this Ferrari site let me know.

    Thanks
    Charles

Yes it is an odd list goes from one extreme to the other the E 320 CDI is the odd one more conservative.

My wife liked the luxuries of the car such auto sensing wipers auto headlamps rearview mirror auto dimming the list goes on and on yet it is the outward appearance of the CLS is more pleasing to her.

    I was thinking if one goes with the CLS type;
    I can buy a 2006 CLS-500 for $49,800.00
    Or a 2006 CLS-55 for $61,500.00
$11,700.00 more for the AMG, possibly Better resale down the road?

Well, I gave some pretty good advice before, but that was before I knew you were a dealer....

If you're a dealer, buy what you want, and if you dont like it, sell it....

Why exactly are you posting about MBZ's on a Ferrari site other than to make a big deal about you getting in a fight with your wife?
