Just acquired this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1995-Ferrari-456-/282841403522 Good service history but in need of a major. Where is the best (cheapest) place to get the parts? SPUK? Other? Thanks, Ken
Congrats on the purchase and hope you enjoy the car! Ricambi is generally considered the best for parts in the US. Not sure if UK parts suppliers are competitive when shipping is included.
Ken, you might find this blog/magazine helpful: Affordable Supercar Magazine. It is filled with ideas and observations aimed at those of us who aren't the wealthiest top 1% of society (heck, what do I know... maybe you are!) and still want to enjoy the thrill and joy of owning a supercar. It's in its infancy but it already contains a great deal of useful information. As an aside I'll disclose that I am that site's editor - though this isn't a commercial venture. It's just a free site the exists for the sole purpose of exchanging useful information.
Thanks, I will take a look. I've had a carbed 308 for several years now. I enjoy working on them. I did a major on the 308. I am just thrifty by nature. Why pay more than you need too?
Congrats Ken. That's a pretty color combo--I'd have bought that car myself back when I bought my '99 but, well, you know the rest of the story. Anyhow, seems like your list is pretty inclusive. If you need a tensiometer for the belts, Moto Reva sells one for about $250 that works a treat and of course you can get the TDC kit with the dial gauge from Hill/Ricambi or Superformance. p.s. I order most everything from Superformance or Maranello Concessionaires. Sometimes however, Ricambi has some good items that he has had reproduced such as the fuel pump grommets, and if you want to upgrade the back plates to metal, Superformace has those. Aaron
Thanks Aaron. I'm probably being a heretic, but I'm going to experiment with the I phone microphone and wave capture software. I've read people have done that. I can compare the results to my guitar tuners to see if they capture it correctly. If it's close enough to the guitar tuner, it's close enough Also, do you have website for Maranello Concessionaires?.
Stu- Very pretty. Thought at first she was TDF, but actually Blu Chiaro Metallizzato (light blue metallic). Six blues available in 1995, as many as there were reds. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Finally this car sold! Great color combo, well done. Since your in Houston, call Mark at Sphere Motorsports.
The color combo is stunning. Blue is the new red, not everyone know this yet so you are ahead on the curve! Blue + 6spd, ultimate combo.
Congrats, I've looked at that car several times. Seems solid, just a few scuffs and scratches. Enjoy!
Yes. Nits and nats on the body and interior. Stuff I can work on a little at a time. Doing a major first, then suspension, then interior, then paint. Should keep me busy for a while,
My 456M was a borderline car. Only 7K miles, but zero records. But it was Rosso Corsa with Shields, red calipers, and a tan Daytona interior. My dream 365 GTB Daytona from when I was a tween. So yeah, it was expensive and time consuming to make it perfect, but it was also rewarding. I took two week-long vacations in that car, both over 4K miles, with perfect reliability. How do you put a price tag on that? I wouldn't trade an actual Daytona for those magical experiences. Enjoy the car. Let it teach you. It's a great adventure. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Ken. Looks very elegant. The rear of the 456 is simply a masterpiece. The front of it too is perfection. Mr. Pininfarina made an interview where the design of the 456 is one of the designs he is most proud of because to design a car with four seats and a trunk is not as easy as a two seater. Enjoy her! Would be fun to drive a 456 throught the heat in Texas. Only been there once when going to south Florida from Sacramento! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Very interesting to see this list of available colors! My 1995 GT doesn't have the paint plate in the position indicated in the owners manual (left front on air duct to radiator; while it does have all the other plates) and I haven't found any other indication of the color on the car. But the original invoice states, hand written, that the car was delivered in 'Blue Le Mans'. This color is not in your list. Would it have been painted this color on special request? Bart
Here is a list of paint colors from 1994, courtesy of Marcel Massini, and Blue Lemans is indeed listed. Seven blues that year and no telling when Ferrari changed over.
