Objective: To replace the plug wires, extenders and spark plugs on a 84 QV
    Time it took: 6.5 hours

Well, I knew it was going to take a while, and I didnt want to rush it and make a mistake. I almost stripped the head on one of the little screws that fasten down the plug wires inside the distributor cap, helps if you have the right tools. I got frustrated a few times, just took a breather LOL.

I replace the plugs with NGK Iridiums (heat range 7) and the wires / extenders with new aftermarket clone-of-oems. Extenders have no resistors (supposedly) as that was what was required for the QVs.

Oh, by the way, I have the original rubber covers for the distributors, man, those are a pain to run wires thru, and more of a pain trying to get them to slide back over the cap especially if they are slippery from the spray cleaner I used.

Runs better now, didnt really like starting up after all the work, but seems to be more responsive and started better once it was warm.

For not being a mechanic, I guess that time isnt that bad.

Great job James, I also plan to do the same thing to my 84 QV.
Did you have to replace all your extender?

There is no greater virtue in my opinion than a man who can make admissions. Good job James.

Well, I dont think I HAD to, but I was trying to solve a few minor performance issues. I figure it was better to replace them all if I was going to do it. I have the old ones and I'm keeping all the old stuff (wires, extenders and plugs) just as a precaution in case something goes wrong with the new stuff.
