I too remember seeing posts where you were looking at 550/575s....Im happy for you- it's been a long search! Bring that baby out to the C&C this Saturday (7/30) assuming you have the car and can make it of course! But your silence since starting this post has me worried the car hasn't arrived yet though.....then again you might be out driving it instead of sitting in front of the computer

The 599 is one of those cars that gets better and better the more you drive it. It's a fantastic machine. Congrats!

 

The adult equivalent of "The Night before Christmas" times 10!

 

Don't fret, there is to comparison between the Maserati GT-S and the 599.
We had a GT-S for 2 or 3 months but sold it as simply felt underpowered when already used to having a 599 in the stable. More than anything, it lacked low-end torque IMO. It did sound good with that sport button though...

The beauty of Maserati's sport button, is that when pressed it kept the valves open all the time and it therefore sounded great even at low RPM under light acceleration.

The 599, on the other hand, only opens its valves above 4K RPM or under heavy acceleration. Therefore, when driving calmly under 4K RPM the car sounds somewhat muted. To change this, you can ask your dealer to install a switch under the steering column that allows you to override the automatic valve control and keep them open all the time (like the GT-S). It will make relaxed driving much more pleasurable IMO as the car will sound great at all times. You can, of course, restore the valves to their default settings with a flick of the "magic" button.

I have publicized the installation of the valve switch on this forum so often that one may almost be led to believe that I somehow make money out of it. Truth of the matter is simply that it's the single most rewarding accessory one can have on the 599 IMVHO (not to mention that it's probably the cheapest)

Enjoy............I just got back from ten days driving around the Swiss/Italian/French Alps in my 612.........some great lesser known routes and all the usual Alpine passes.

Car didn't miss a beat, superb Ferrari's.
