May have something to do with his sexuality. It seems that it was widely believed that he was gay but that the music industry thought that he would 'straighten out' This is what I am assuming that they are talking about.

It is interesting to look at the triva on this page as to all the songs that he is referenced in.

 

He had a reputation for crying at the smallest things to get his way. All dressed up like an adult but acting like a baby. This is maybe where the line comes from. I read about him in a music insider book years ago and don't remember much other than that he could be very emotional and he was very successful early on.
