This is going to sound strange, but I picked up a 1995 456 GT 6 speed about two years ago and drive it very occasionally. It was an ebay car with no history, no books, no papers and one single standard key. Amazingly it runs and drives really well, and I have fixed quite a few gremlins from tips on the forums. One thing that has always concerned me was if this car has one the infamous secret code alarm systems that is going leave me stranded one day. So my question is when did the immobilizer alarms get introduced and did my car have a remote key fob at one time. Yes I did get a spare key made, but it is only a key. Thanks for the help

If you have no fob..you have no alarm. Ferrari didn't start with the immobilizers until 1996 btw..

Chuck- Introduced with Motronic 5.2 and OBDII on the F355 and 456 and shortly afterwards on the 550. OBDII was required on all US cars sold on or after 1 January 1996. For that reason there were no US MY 1996 456 GTs because OBDII was not ready until mid-year 1996 on the 456 GT and new GTA.

No immobilizer on Motronic 2.7 456s or F355s.
