My car won't start ('02 Modena Euro). I parked it last weekend with no issues. Yesterday, I went to take a short run and found the battery very low. The check system went through it's cycle, but the key fob wouldn't switch anything. I turned the battery switch off, hooked in the trickle charger (2amp) and left it for a few hours. Later that evening I went to check on things and tried to start the car. The headlights, dash, radio all worked fine, but got no action from the key fob and the car won't turn over. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. G
Actually, it's a 2000 (my typo) A new clue. The radio is not working ... after entering the security code, it displays "WAIT" G
Got It !! For all those that may search on this problem in the future ... the problem was simple (too simple). The light on the key fob would blink when pressing the button, however, there wasn't enough juice in the key fob battery to activate the remote switch. I found my other key fob, to try it, and wha-lah, everything works fine. The key fob uses an A23 alkaline battery. It may not be a bad idea to carry one in the tool bag or replace it every couple of years. G
Glad you solved the issue and thanks for the good advice....it can happen to anyone and leave you stranded.
Yeah, that was a little scary. I've known of cars being down for days because of imobilizer problems. However, my radio still has "WAIT" on the display. I've tried turning off/on the battery switch, hoping for a "ENTER CODE" message. Any ideas? G
Funny thing ... I just checked my email and found a message from GCalo ... he had the key fob battery answer a couple of hours before I resolved it (I meaning Jeffrey) Thanks for looking out GCalo. G
