BUTTON POLE!, I think that is his first!!!. Concrats to Button.

    MS second,
    JPM third,
    RB,
    RS,
    Alonso,
    Sato,
    Webber,
    ... who cares ;)

Yet again JPM fails to take the challenge to MS ... when will you JPM supporters finally realise he is not as good as the press made him out to be. Not bad, but not a superstar either ...

Pity, really as I was hoping for Button and JPM front row to give MS some work. In the race MS should be able to put Button behind him easily, assuming experience and low fuel (in the BAR?).

Now I have to wake myself up at 7:30 am tomorrow to watch the race!

Michael had that Luca is going to beat me look on his face.Shame a ferrari couldn't be on pole in a Italian race.Button's doing pretty well in that BAR though.

So, is Button a superstar? I'm not sure how 3rd place demotes someone to non-superstar status? So, what does that make 2nd place? Semi-Superstar?This should be very interesting. If Michael gets held up by Button for a couple of laps and JPM could stay one his tail.......this could get very interesting. Maybe some bona fide passing.

Hey, Pete... its not healthy to be talking to yourself like this! ;)

Well, that is a question... is the BAR Honda running lighter than the Ferrari, or is it truly as fast now? Ferrari has been qualifying very light... so the Honda can't be much lighter.

MS made a big mistake in the run... it looks like the Ferrari might have been faster sans that mistake. So, they may be running about the same fuel.

    Sooo....

The first corner should be exciting. Obviously the fastest two cars are on the front row and should be racing to the corner. But Montoya is on the clean line and MS is not... so, MS may need to decide to defend against JPM or attack JB. Then there is RB also on 2nd row, behind MS. RB can help keep JPM off MS... but then RB is in the marbles and RS is not! So RS may be able to keep RB off JPM leaving JPM free to mix it up with MS, while JB takes off in the lead. ;)

Could be a very interesting first corner... and undoubtedly the race through the first pit stop (5-10 laps?) should be very interesting as well.

I would venture to speculate that it will take a foul of some kind for MS to lose this race. Is that going to far out on a limb? : ) Its a beautiful day in Indy and I am going out to wash and drive my car, or drive and wash? choices, choices...have a nice day mates.

So are we going to see the patented Schumacher chop off the line tomorrow morning. It's amazing how wide that Ferrari can be at the start!

Congrats to Button and BARHonda. Eventhough MS mistake at alta viarante cost him the pole. It doesn't takeaway the hard work put forth from JB.

Way to go Button! Very nice indeed. Knowing Honda's past, it was only a matter of time before they started to see some fruits for their labors. Let's see how they do in the race...........

Regarding all of you Villeneuve naysayers.............say what you want about him, the man is a very talented driver. I would certainly rank him in the top five. I believe the wind was taken out of his sails by the lack of performance in his car for all those years, and BAR had to rejuvenate the team by bringing in some fresh blood. I certainly don't blame BAR at all for severing ties with JV, it is what they had to do to keep moving forward. It was simply timing that did not play out for JV....if this newfound performance would have reared its head last year, it would be JV on top of the charts today. All he would have needed was to feel some success to rejuvinate him, to refuel him, but unfortunately for him, it came 1 year too late. Don't discount him for 1 second for the part he played in this team's success. I hope to hell we see him in an F1 car soon.............perhaps Williams or Renault??????

I don't think BAR did it with less fuel. So far since the beginning of last year rarely anybody bluffed with low fuel loads up front. MS made a mistake at Variante Alta and that was that. But regardless Button is quick.

Pete, why do you jump on JPM? He did IMHO a great job given the limitations of his car. Why not jump on Rubens? Of the front runners I think he is the one with the egg on his face, aside from Ralf.

Anyway, I'm so looking forward to tomorrow. Could be a real race. Or some first lap shenanigans that will end up in lots of debris...

    Mr Payne and Tifosi12,

I was just having some fun and stirring ... it was lonely here last night ;).

Anyway I guess after prequalifying I was just expecting (hoping) that JPM would push MS back to second row and we would have a race.

I think JV was a sap. I could say worse, but what's the point?

I am really happy for David Richards. That guy is certainly doing his work!

Hello? Anyone home in the McLaren camp? I think Ron Dennis is hoping SLRs are selling. :D

For sure if MS had not made that mistake the pole would have gone to him. But anyway I`m really happy Button got his first pole position. Now do you guys think the Williams were heavy or they gave their best shot and didn`t succeed by getting the pole. I remember Ralf seem to had a great start but after seing the result at the first sector...he wasn`t even close to Jenson`s first sector.
As for McLaren ...oh boy .its looking like another horrible week-end for them.
Too bad for Fisichella...I was really looking forward to his lap but his car had problems.

Gosh I can`t wait for tomorrow morning!!
I think its going to be the best race so far this season.

    I had a similar thought...Where's McLaren?

I guess BAR is replacing them as one of the top 3.

Renault is not doing too bad either. Now if Mc/MB fix up there act, then we will have an interesting fight between ferrari/willbmw/McMB/BARHonda/renault.

I am predicting that by late mid season if things start looking right that we will have a medly of 5 teams racing it out rather then the last year 3. This is looking good for the sport.

Congrats Jenson Button! Im glad to see BAR have some success, Great for the sport to have a team other than the top three in the game so to speak. Maybe it will humble Ron dennis a bit. It is a long race sun, Im confident michael and Rubens will do fantastic. I watched schumacher qualify 7th at Indy and come away with a win. It was awesome being there. I think a tornado could come across the track during the race and he would probably set fastest lap! He does,nt lose focus. I think this puts buttons pole in perspective. Michael P2 not a problem!
