I was programing up the TIVO and notice that this year the race is on CBS. Practice & qualifying are on Speed. I don't ever recall this before. ABC used to show Monaco. Has CBS ever covered an F1 race? One bright side- HD version.
Thanks for the info. I was just going to ask who is airing it. Though it looks like Speedtv is airing live. Do you know what time CBS is running it?
CBS has an agreement for 4 races this season: San Marino (Imola), Spain (Barcelona), Canada (Montreal), and Germany (Hockenheim). European races will most surely not be live, seeing as how they probalby payed money for the priveliedge to air the races, they won't air at at 5AM (PST). At earliest, I'd say that it's going to be tape delayed at a minimum, a few hours. If they do air a race live, it would probalby be Canada, otherwise, the rest are European rounds. There seems to be absolutely no mention of F1 on CBS' site (yes, even CBS Sports). So beats me...they aren't even hyping up the event yet, maybe more news in the next week. Edit: Speed will NOT be airing the race live, as their coverage must be tape delayed due to the CBS agreement. Most likely we will see their coverage a week later or something like that. Although for these races, they will still be covering Practice and qualifying.
I heard the CBS tape delayed Imola race will air at 1pm on Sunday. That is actually a fairly "correct" time slot for a Sunday GP. What worries me, is that CBS has a bad habit of dropping scheduled broadcasts for some nationwide or local news story. I can see it coming: Some other dope with a couple of black suitcases puts himself in front of a State building and they'll report the "standoff" all afternoon long. Wouldn't be the first time.
