Anyone done any recent comparisons, reliability, cost, etc. I bought a Titanium Ingersoll Rand last week and it already crapped out. I returned it, but dont know what to get now.

I've got a Snap-On that I bought back in 1986. Used it professionally (all day every day) until 1992, then just on my own projects since then. Still works great, I used it today as a matter of fact.

It was kind of pricey even back then, but if you are still using it 20 years later..........

Edit: BTW - I love your quote.

I've got two Bosch electrics, 1/2" and 3/4" drives. Never had a problem with either one, and can use em on the road/woods as opposed to an air (which for me is important). Don't remember price, from real world use, the 1/2 is probably good for around 200ft lbs, the 3/4 maybe 500ft lbs.

    edit, both are 110v.

Speaking of electrics, for the oil rig we just bought 2 cordless ones (both are 18v). A small Dewalt that is lightweight and handy but only good for around 140 ft-lbs and a big Central Pnuematic that is good for 240 ft-lbs but is much heavier than an air powered one.

I have used both and although I like the compact size of the Dewalt (I really like the tool), it doesn't have the guts for a big job. I like not having to have my tool access limited by the length of the extension cord/air hose even just the simple task of moving from one side of your work to the other, no cords of hoses to have to route. On the rig your work is often a good ways away from your tools so you have to bring, in addition to your impact gun, 50 ft of extension cord or air hose. Nice to not having to lug that around and untangle it.

Snap-On is what I use. 1/2 with a 18V battery. 3/8 with a 14v battery. Anytime the batteries go out, or anything happens to break, Snap-On will replace it with no questions asked.

Thanks for the input all. I was looking at MAC or Snap, sounds like I'll give the Snap On a try.
