OK, please respond if you really, really, really know for sure.

Midnight is 12:00 AM or PM?

Midnight plus 1 sec is: 12:00:01AM or 12:00:01PM?

My understanding is midnight is 12:00PM but 1 minute later is 12:01 AM, and visa-versa (I've never typed visa-versa before) for noon, i.e. 12:00AM followed by 12:01PM.

If what I said is true, the real question is what about the seconds in that first minute.

Related, lets say some one dies at 2:15 AM a cold October morning, that happens to be the day they add an extra hour coming off Daylight
Savings Time, how do you distinguish the time of death the first 2:15 from the second 2:15?

Finally, should I not drink whiskey when I'm at my beach house?

    That is all.

    Doc...

Whiskey at the beach house is perfectly fine...

    12 midnight is 12AM - 12 noon is 12PM - you can't have two 12PMs, ergo, 12 midnight is 12AM... :)

No, midnight is 12:00AM or 0:00 if you use the 24Hr clock and midday is 12:00PM. Easier to see using a 24Hr clock, 0:00 is the start of a new day, so it can only be Ante Meridian and there has been no Meridian for it to be Post of...

As to the Daylight savings question, you record the time with the DT (Daylight savings Time) or ST (Standard Time) qualifiers or as GMT.
Can't see any reason why not, unless... A) you have to drive, B) it's not a single malt, and C) you mix anything with it... Then of course the answer is No you shouldn't :D

You need to keep busier, and apparently, so do I.

If I understand the question correctly, you would like to really know if one second after midnight is 12:00:01 AM, correct??

The answer is it is 12:00:01 AM the first second after midnight.

And, since I don't drink, I can't help you with the scotch question.

Now, on the dead guy question, you simply add EST, or CST, or whatever, to the DC, thereby eliminating any question of whos and whats.

NOW, GO OUT IN THE COLD, SHAKE OFF THE ENNUI, AND WATCH THE GAME ALREADY.

12:00 is that infinitely small dot in time that is neither AM nor PM.It separates AM from PM. One billionth of a nanosecond past 12 noon is PM. One billionth of a nanosecond past 12 midnight is AM. One billionth of a nanosecond before 12 noon is AM. One billionth of a nanosecond before 12 midnight is PM.

Someone posted a screen showing 12:00 AM Just because some computer wizard programmed it does not make it correct.

Yes its a must, or wine, beer and champagne! Actually do all.

12 midnight is 12am, go for the 24hr clock its easier and the mrs doesn't understand it.

Please don't call in the FS police they'll only complicate things.

Here's what the folks at Greenwich have to say about it

"AM and PM - What is Noon and Midnight?
AM and PM start immediately after Midnight and Noon (Midday) respectively.

This means that 00:00 AM or 00:00 PM (or 12:00 AM and 12:00 PM) have no meaning.

Every day starts precisely at midnight and AM starts immediately after that point in time e.g. 00:00:01 AM (see also leap seconds)

To avoid confusion timetables, when scheduling around midnight, prefer to use either 23:59 or 00:01 to avoid confusion as to which day is being referred to.

It is after Noon that PM starts e.g. 00:00:01 PM (12:00:01)"

Funny that, that's exactly what our scheduling people do as well; so there is no confusion. My work roster is in GMT. Seems like we must get confused alot with this time thing.

According to my clock, the little red "PM" dot in the lower right-hand corner comes on at 12 noon, and goes off at 12 midnight. So that's what I go by. Yes sir, my good 'ol reliable goddamm alarm clock. Um, anyway, as far as drinking whiskey at yer beach house. Why, so long as it's after 12:00 I see no problem:)
