If the rear bumper has to be taken off a 488 to do work on it, is taking off the rear wheels part of the process ?

My immediate answer is yes , because anytime I have seen the rear bumper off a 488 , the wheels were removed.

Checking R&R instructions , it indicates that you are supposed to remove the rear wheels as part of the procedure.

Can it be done with wheels on, I have asked.

There is normally a wheel liner that has to come off to access the fasteners at the edge of the bumper.

What is the relevance of that as it applies to whether the wheels have to be removed ?

It would be quite difficult to remove the inner fender without removing the wheels first.

It is easier to remove the wheel well liner when the wheels have been removed. Have you ever removed a bumper off a Ferrari?
