I am wanting to purchase an older Ferrari in Europe and ship it to Texas. Is there anyone here who has done that that can give me advice?
My biggest question is what’s a good way to transfer the car and money that protects both buyer and seller?

    Thank you
    Jerry

    Texas!
Search for a member named ross. Send him a message. He did exactly what you plan on doing including shipping to Texas.

I think Marcel Massini can give you a tip too.

A number of transport companies will offer an escrow service, where you send the funds to the transporter and they will forward them to the seller once they have the car and proper paperwork in their possession.

In 1985 I travelled to Ancona Italy to purchase a 76 BB512. I was advised to not ship the car from Italy [Genoa]. Apparently there was a risk the car would be stolen before it would be loaded on to the ship. Instead I had the car transported to Antwerp for shipping to the port of Newark.

Unfortunately the battery died when it reached Newark. The port crew used a truck to push start it in the parking lot to get it running.

But that was a long time ago. Maybe things are better and more secure these days.

Almost every mini truck I import has its battery cover ripped off by some ****stick at port. Batteries cross wired on re install. Bunch of jabronis down there.
